The Verbivores | 11/12/02 | Mistress Bella

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

enervate \EN-ur-vayt\, verb:

To deprive of nerve, force, or strength; to weaken; to impair the moral powers of.

Etymology: Enervate is from Latin enervatus, from enervo, enervare, to to remove the sinews from, hence to weaken, from e-, ex-, from + nervus , sinew.

Well, it did. But then I found another trick. I add the butter to the ramekin dish, then spread it around with a brush.

However, that's not how Martha Steward does it!

Does she wear the stripes or the pastel orange jumpsuit when she cooks that dish now?

Pay attention! You're missing the point. XS has literally dozens of ways to make me sick. I offered to take her and her family to a nice restaurant like say Red Lobster or Denny's but she insisted on cooking for me.

You don't do this to the Mrs., do you?

Truth is I have gotten food poisoning from buttered popcorn at a movie theater. I don't have any butter or butter flavoring put on it any longer. In fact, I don't go to the movies very much either.

I know everyone HATES Martha Stewart.

I used to get her magazine, though. She had the best recipes around. Everything turned out just the way it was supposed to turn out.

For some reason, I make the ugliest cakes. They taste great, but they are ugly. I tried one of her cakes, and, my gosh, it looked just as if it came off the cover of her magazine.

Are we thread enders?

I've been dealing with dust most of the day. Talk about poisons to me. Allergies are at a very high right now in AZ anyway. Going to take a benedryl.

Carry on . . . LOL!

I think I will have to give up being vain and just wear my glasses.

Sorry to hear about your eyes, Miss Rika. Hope it'll be better soon!

And talk about glasses...

I went to the optometrist for the first time day after Christmas last and came away... with bifocals! (Almost made it to 50 without...) I really only need them to read, but the upper restores my distance vision which had deteriorated down to 20/20. So now I have Rx sunglasses too, and reading glasses stashed here & there...

Miss Slip, what's the failure rate of photoradialkeratotomy? I vaguely remember reading something about it, in the WSJ I think, but all the details are gone...

Here is a new way to prepare your Thanksgiving Turkey.

1. Cut out aluminum foil in desired shapes.
2. Arrange the turkey in the roasting pan, position the foil carefully (SEE PICTURE).
3. Roast according to your own recipes and serve.
4. Watch your guests' faces.

Yep, it would. But I knew he wouldn't eat any of that stuff.

Photoradialkerototomy wasn't done here in the United States for a long time. It was done in Canada, though. My older sis had it done there. Her eyes are perfect for far vision, but then they changed, and now she has to wear glasses.

I understand you can have one eye for far vision and one eye for close vision. I'm waiting for one of my eyes to get bad for the close vision PRK.

I don't know the success rate for PRK, but for RK, there were some problems. A niece had it done. Her vision was 20/20 for about a month, then she had to start wearing glasses again.

I will look at Google right now. They are sure to have something on it. Found it. Here it is.
