In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

aver\uh-VUR\, transitive verb:
[Inflected forms: averred; averring]:

1. To affirm with confidence; to declare in a positive manner, as in confidence of asserting the truth.
2. (Law) To assert, claim, or declare as a fact.

Etymology: Aver is from Old French-Medieval French averer, from Medieval Latin adverare, to confirm as authentic, from Latin ad-, ad- + Medieval Latin verare, from Latin verus, true. Other words deriving from verus are very, which sometimes has the sense of "true"; verify, to prove the truth of; and verdict, a decision or judgment, literally a "true-saying" (verus + dictum, saying).

now there is Vast, the johnny on the spot, as it were, with the tool to do the job! I am thinking the bottom row is what i need, since i am punching a row of holes around the perimeter of various felt shapes, such as snowmen, stars, christmas trees, and gingerbread men, so that the brownies can sew them up and stuff them with rice. We are making bean bags to take to the old folks in the nursing home for our Christmas project.

I am thinking the bottom row is what i need, since i am punching a row of holes around the perimeter of various felt shapes, such as snowmen, ... and gingerbread men... Oh. She wants a manuelly-operated felt hole punch to make multiple impressions all around the bottom of a soft felt shape. (And here I was, lookin' all around for a brownie raft shop...) That's okay, xsex. The Manuel guys (and Hose, and Feelandseeano, and Jaime and Richardo) will be there on Thursday to make those impressions wherever you feel like getting impressions made in your nice, soft, cozy, felt box. (Might even do some yardwork too if you ask real nice....)

Here are a couple of possibilities that might work better for what you are doing:

or
or

A little heavier-duty, adjustable hole sizes, etc.

since i am punching a row of holes around the perimeter of various felt shapes,

That being the case, (and I will leave all the double entendre and innuendo to RAC since he is doing such a bang-up job of it), you probably want to look at #170. If you have time to order from tandyleather.com or you can go to a good hobby store (Hobby Lobby, Michaels, MJDesigns, etc.), you might want to consider something like a leather punch rather than a hole punch. They have tools with adjustable hole sizes, tools that punch a row of holes, etc. that might be more useful.

her felt hole

This is so ripe for abuse...
(I have a suspicion that she is deliberately baiting us.)

There are some in this class who are masters at that.

I heard she got her Masters in baiting, or atleast that's the latest buzz.

I worked on a fishing boat one summer and started out as an apprentice baiter. However, I refused to join the union so I could never be promoted to master baiter.

She is definitely a master of baiting us... (About handily felt items that need regularly punched holes at least...)

So that we rise to the hook ...

and always to help her grab a hard pole.. and a willing rod.

Never sinking below the depths of perversity and clamity and molarity (except in months with an "R" in 'em.)

But, "I" at least, will rise above all that and remain pure as the driven snowmanuel..... (And the occasional Hose, Feeleeseeano, and Richardo...)

Never let it be said I would ever stoop so low as to imply she was not honorbly driven as she goes off in search of s'more punches for her soft, hardily-felt box for her brownie raft project.
