Yesterday, a 7.9 magnitude quake struck Alaska, south of Fairbanks. The quake was felt as far away as New Orleans. Only one injury has been reported. The Alaska Pipeline is intact, but shut down this morning. Some support structures are broken about 50 miles south of Delta. Damage exists on the Alaska Highway. There is also some damage to the Parks Highway, as shown in the following photo:

Zogby has Jeb Bush with a 15-point lead going into the last day before the election.

Mondale still leads Coleman, but only by 5 percentage points.

Carnahan and Talent are tied in the Zogby poll, both at 46%.

The New York Times is conceding the Republicans will likely make gains in the House.

And authorities are investigating whether a shooting in Clinton, Maryland, was related to the sniper. While previously not believing that to be the case as it didn't fit the MO - the victim was shot several times at close range, but still managed to survive, authorities are taking another look because a laptop computer owned by the victim was among the items recovered from the sniper's car.

In other news, we just got back from filling out a contract to go with our offer. Our realtor called their realtor and told them over the phone what we're offering. He said he didn't think they'd accept the offer, but our realtor thinks it's a good offer and good contract. Anyway, that's what prayer is for, right? Pray that they accept our offer.

I was expecting to feel a bit nervous about this whole thing, but Mrs. Mulliner and I feel so much peace about it. We do have confidence that God is really looking out for us and we THINK that we're making an offer on the right place.

I heard an interview with the person Jesse Ventura appointed to the Senate in Wellstone's place. John Gibson asked him about where he stood on several issues, one being whether he leans conservative or liberal. The guy said that he was a social liberal and a fiscal conservative, but when asked about the judgeship issue, he replied that he BELIEVED IN STRICT CONSTITUTIONAL INTERPRETATION, NOT LEGISLATING FROM THE BENCH! YAY!!! He then said that he doesn't like the games being played with appointing judges and that he would not object to a qualified conservative.

Sounds like Jesse may have done OK.

Some reporter asked x42 if he (x42) thought he could've done more to get bin Laden.

x42 exploded in the reporter's face, responding with the usual nonsense that he did all he could and anyway, it was all the Republicans' fault anyway.....
