We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our Freedom, die in vain!!
Yesterday, a 7.9 magnitude quake struck Alaska, south of Fairbanks. The quake was felt as far away as New Orleans. Only one injury has been reported. The Alaska Pipeline is intact, but shut down this morning. Some support structures are broken about 50 miles south of Delta. Damage exists on the Alaska Highway. There is also some damage to the Parks Highway, as shown in the following photo:
Zogby has Jeb Bush with a 15-point lead going into the last day before the election.
Mondale still leads Coleman, but only by 5 percentage points.
Carnahan and Talent are tied in the Zogby poll, both at 46%.
The New York Times is conceding the Republicans will likely make gains in the House.
And authorities are investigating whether a shooting in Clinton, Maryland, was related to the sniper. While previously not believing that to be the case as it didn't fit the MO - the victim was shot several times at close range, but still managed to survive, authorities are taking another look because a laptop computer owned by the victim was among the items recovered from the sniper's car.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
..... and then dinners at night that kept us sometimes as late as 10:00. Some people skip convention events to go sightseeing but we figure we need to soak up all the info they can give us ...... :-)
Still cleaning up from all the excitment yesterday. Had a few aftershocks last night but nothing major.
I will be praying with you at 5:00
Here is my prediction for the election:
I predict it will take weeks to sort things out. I believe that the the most common phrases on the news will be; "Democrat lawsuit" or "Election Lawsuit"and "democratic lawyers" I think they plan to tie up this election worse than 2000. We will not know who is in control of the House and Senate until January at least. I also predict the controversy will last years. Sigh........

Ugh! I'm taking a small break from the drudgery of correcting homework. Why did I ever assign homework on the weekend, give a quiz on Monday morning and have papers due on Monday morning? Three sets of work to grade. And then, of course, there's the need to get ready for classes tomorrow. I put in way more hours than I get paid for.
Am I whining like one of those NEA teachers yet?
Presuming the demoflops maintain control of the Missouri seat - far from a decided outcome - there is one problem with your math. The turncoat Jeffords votes with the demoflops and that makes their vote count, if my two remaining brain cells didn't smoke out on the calculation, 50.
So there would be 50 demoflop votes, 49 pubbie votes, and 1 guy debating with himself in the bathroom.
We'd still need a seat.
Twice a year I have to change countless clocks around the cottage (it's around 10, but it seems like a bunch). Mrs. Chairman gets motivated to change 1 or 2 (usally after she has seen me scurrying here and yon). Just noticed last night a clock I had missed, in her sewing room. Still set for daylight time. My computer at home is set for UTC. That is to time stamp files off of the weather wire and avoid the "October Problem."
But that removes the thought that Ventura would do anything to hurt the Democrats.
He ain't mad at Democrats. He is just getting publicity for his Reform Party.
Up close to 200 pts all day...I heard someone on one of the CNBC business shows say the money people think the Repubs regain control of the Senate.
Market is reacting to that same feeling I have..
