It's a beautiful day here in Chile, up to about 72. Got the pool filled up and will be splashing around after it warms up a bit...maybe next weekend.

The wife is in the US...the maid lady took off for the weekend, so it's me and the Rotties, some cold beer, music and being lazy.

Went shopping and made it out without smacking anyone. You can not believe how rude people are in the super marcado. They just don't understand the unspoken rules...they all stand around blocking the isles with their carts yammering away to each other, many times with a brat armed with a soccer ball using the milk display for a goal. This is normal, in a market that is as big and modern as any in the US. This one has 50 checkout registers and people are about 4-deep in line at each one.

That's another thing that gets me on the prowl...line jumpers. Everyone in Latin America figures lines are for someone else to stand in, and jumping lines is a national passtime. Doesn't matter if it's traffic, the store, or boarding a plane...the thought of standing in a line and waiting your turn makes them crazy. The things missing from the Latin culture are "consideration and courtesy." The wife tells me I'll be lucky if I don't do some jail time down here.

Happy birthday Swervie...or Feliz Complianos as they say down here. (I'll leave the obligatory smootches to others.)

I HATE to stand and wait in line, too... but I never cut in. I do often just leave my intended purchase behind and walk out of the door if the store doesn't have enough checkers or they are excruciatingly slow.

The problem with waiting in grocery store lines down here is they don't have the ragazines...no Star or Inquirer with pics of a bloated, teary Kathy Lee, or Hillery...(bloated being nothing unusual with her).

I saw what I hope is the future of check-outs recently: you get your stuff, you swipe the plastic to pay, you scan the bar-codes, you bag it and then get the heck outta the store. No foreigners, kids from the state school, or grandpa from the nursing home jerking around with your goods. There was one guard type person observing four separate registers - labor savings out the wazzzooo.

Va and I stand in complete envy of your Chilean weather - ours is RANK.

Little Johnny sees his Daddy's car pass the playground and go into the woods. Curious, he follows the car and sees Daddy and Aunt Jane in a "Passionate Embrace."

Little Johnny finds this so exciting, he can barely contain himself as he runs home and starts to tell his mother excitedly... "MOMMY! MOMMY! I WAS AT THE PLAYGROUND AND DADDY AND..."

Mommy tells him to slow down.

So Little Johnny tells her: "I was at the playground and I saw Daddy's car go into the woods with Aunt Jane and I went back to look and he was giving Aunt Jane a big kiss and then he helped her take off her shirt and then Aunt Jane helped Daddy take his pants off and then Aunt Jane laid down on the seat and then Daddy..."

At this point, Mommy stops Johnny.

"Johnny, this is such an interesting story, suppose you save the rest of it for supper time. I want to see the look on Daddy's face when you tell it tonight."

At the dinner table, Mommy asks Little Johnny to tell his story. Johnny starts his story, describing the car into the woods, the undressing, lying down on the seat, and... "...then Daddy and Aunt Jane did that same thing Mommy and Uncle Bill used to do when Daddy was in the Marines."

(Sometimes you need to listen to the whole story before you interrupt!)

I'm a slacker in treachery.... old age without it isn't an advantage.

Hang around here and we will teach you all about guile and treachery. Besides, you aren't old yet. When I was your age I was still dating 18 and 19 year olds.

Good morning swerve... I think dating a 28 yr old is as young as I'll ever go at my age. I don't like looking as if some nice young man is taking his Grandma out to lunch (or a wild party *L*)

I was dressed up for Halloween as someone who shouldn't wear bulky white sweaters *L*

From what I understand from Mo and Libs...Valerie is doing the same.

It was a funkle inspired by a very inexpensive but passable Pinot Noir.

I bought about 12 bottles of wine today, (did I mention the wife is away?) and no bottle was over $5 US. Lots of good cheap wines down here.
