The Verbivores | 10/17/02 | Teacher

Posted on 10/17/2002 5:03:05 AM PDT by RikaStrom

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

qua \KWAY; KWAH\, preposition:

1. In the capacity or character of; as.
2. In so far as

This might be thought a decisive objection to a federal judge's writing about this subject even if the judge writes qua academic rather than qua judge.
--Richard A. Posner, An Affair of State

Etymology: Latin, which way, as, from ablative singular feminine of qui who. Date: 1647

LOL, well you are not allowed to tie TxBoys to the top of the car.

Congrats on their medals, good deal.

Ya know Bec...... those boys of yours sure don't sound like the anti-social, un-interactive stereotype homeschool kids. /hehehehe

I've got some wonderful Cafe Brit from Costa Rika this morning, as well as some Kona from Hawaii.

And if your standards are a little lower, I've got some house blend from Starbucks as well.

I've also swiped some Kahlua and Bailey's from camle's wetbar and will be happy to envigorate your coffee with a shot of each if you like.

There is a saying that if something quacks qua duck, and walks qua duck, it is probably a dang duck. There are those saying the saying might apply to the Beltway sniper , being a ME terrorist, as well. I am still undecided and think the odds are even up, but at least the officials are not totally discounting it, because that would be disingenuous.

If Leaky Leahy would behave qua a statesman rather than qua a puppet of perverse purveyors of partisan political pandering to loony left special interest groups, there wouldn't be such a judicial logjam and shortage of federal judges.
