Lots fewer kids out on the street this afternoon, i was relieved to see. There are many kids that walk to the public library to do homework etc. after school. Luckily seems that some parents have some sense in keeping them off the streets!

I remember when I lived in Burbank, CA, in the early Eighties. Ramirez was running loose in the Valley. He was the rapist/murderer. It was so scary. You had to be really aware of your surroundings at all times, and it takes its toll on you.

When Ramirez was finally caught, I was at the hair salon. We all, of course, wanted to watch the news. When we heard he had been caught (and caught by Hispanics), we all stood up (bleach in hair and all) and applauded and screamed and hugged each other. Still gives me the chills.

Hmm?.....this may be a repeat that I posted not too long ago?......

A boy had reached four without giving up the habit of sucking his thumb, though his mother had tried everything from bribery to reasoning to painting it with lemon juice to discourage the habit.

Finally she tried threats, warning her son that, "If you don't stop sucking your thumb, your stomach is going to blow up like a balloon."

Later that day, walking in the park, mother and son saw a pregnant woman sitting on a bench. The four-year-old considered her gravely for a minute, then spoke to her saying, "Uh-oh...I know what you've been doing."

You can have your kids read this:

I just subscribed to Ranger Rick last week. I've always read it at the doctors' offices. LOL!

A circus owner walked into a bar to see everyone crowded around a table watching a little show. On the table was an upside down pot and a duck tap dancing on it. The circus owner was so impressed that he offered to buy the duck from its owner. After some wheeling and dealing they settled for $10,000 for the duck and the pot.

Three days later the circus owner runs back to the bar in anger, "Your duck is a rip-off! I put him on the pot before a whole audience and he didn't dance a single step!"

"So?" asked the ducks' former owner, "did you remember to light the candle under the pot?"
