I think the Bush bots use it to imply that anyone who questions the War Decision is a fifth columnist. That is, an agent for the enemy posing as a citizen.

As another poster pointed out, unlike written arguments, images can not be directly refuted. Thus the use of these "5" images is an attempt to "shout down" logical debate with a sort of name calling.

When war is declared, I will rally 'round the flag like the rest of them. I would feel better about it if I knew Iraq was behind 9/11. That case has not been made.

when I was in a fraternity, during hell week we were all given numbers. One guy who was up against it was given the number "the square root of negative one, an imaginary number!" They would scream this at ol Banks. It was funny, of course, as it did not involve ME.

It is a method of shouting down all dissent. If you have any questions about any facet of the current state of the Bill of Rights or how much power the government is acquiring, you can expect to be bum-rushed and drowned out with the number '5'.

Now, you would think these people would actually try to refute arguments presented before them, but no. No, these people (who would be very comfortable wearing brown shirts) attempt to squelch all debate with this response.
