Back from my parents' house where I indulged in an afternoon of college football on the boob-tube. Some good games today, but Tennessee's wasn't one of them. I watched most of the 2nd quarter and not much of the rest. It's about all I've watched them this season so I think I must be a jinx.

My mother turns 79 on Monday so after dinner we went to my sister's place for cake and a little party. My parents are planning to spend the evening watching "Gigi" on TV.

I watched some Fox News at my parents' place and expected to come back to this thread abuzz about Arafat's compound being under seige. Is everyone discussing this elsewhere? Seemed like big news, although I didn't see anything about it on CNN or MSNBC when I flipped over a few times.

There were a couple of threads about it earlier...

At the time, around 6 ET, when the IDF resumed the bulldozing after about an hour break, I checked CNN and MSNBC, and was very surprised to see they weren't covering the action like Fox was.

Israel has a history of doing what it wants, even if it has to stand alone

That is not true. In each of the Arab/Israeli wars the Jews stopped when we told them to. They are a puppet state of the United States. They get to play independent for home political consumption. But that is it. In international affairs what you see is not often what you get. Israel is so dependant on us that Bill Clinton got away with sending his crew to Israel to control the outcome its national election for president. Carville accomplished that job and the Jews never opened their mouth. Bibi was defeated because bill Clinton wanted him defeated. The party and the candidate that lost that election said nothing. Puppets on a string just have to take it.

Israel is not independent. They have to receive a huge amount of money from the United States every year. They are very dependant on the United States for their existance. With out us, the Israeli economy colapses. Their gross national product can not support their huge defense costs. They would starve or be defeated with out us. The French and Germans would help the Arabs kill all the Jews. If you think hatrid of Jews is over in Europe you have not been to Europe for a while.

He who pays the piper calls the tune. Israel is about the only nation on the face of the earth where we still pay the piper. And guess what ... we call their tune. Clinton called a differnt tune but he called it just the same.

Oh, THAT connection! Well, my wife and I can't think of anyone with the first name he mentioned who works in that part of China. Will probably have to just come out and ask him how he got my e-mail.

Yes, I was surprised that CNN wasn't doing full-blown coverage. Fox showed some of their "bulletin points" on the story and I noticed one said that France considered Israel's actions "unacceptable." Naturally that comforted me that Israel was indeed doing the right thing.
