Begala: Clinton Didn't Fumble Bin Laden, Bush Did!
Former senior Clinton political advisor turned "Crossfire" cohost Paul Begala said Thursday that he doubted the credibility of reports that his old boss was ever offered a deal from Sudan for Osama bin Laden's extradition to the U.S., insisting instead that it was President Bush who missed the best opportunity to take bin Laden out before the 9-11 attacks.
"I'm very skeptical about that whole (bin Laden offer) story," Begala told radio host Don Imus. "To believe it, you've got to believe that the terrorist-sponsoring regime in Sudan all of a sudden became sort of these Jeffersonian democrats who wanted to help America in the war on terror."
"I think the whole thing's a little specious," the one-time top Clinton aide added, despite his boss' own audiotaped remarks confirming the story as fact. (Click here for audio link)
Begala said that after al Qaeda attacked two U.S. embassies in East Africa in 1998, "Clinton was obsessed with al Qaeda, he was obsessed with bin Laden."
The "Crossfire" cohost said that his old boss had recruited assassination squads from Pakistan and Uzbekistan to kill bin Laden, and he ordered submarines to be ready to launch a follow up attack to the Clinton administration's failed Aug. 20, 1998 cruise missile strike on bin Laden's Khost, Afghanistan encampment.
The ex-Clinton aide suggested instead that it was President Bush who blew the best opportunity to get the al Qaeda terror chief.
"Clinton ordered the Predator, which is a drone, to be armed with Hellfire missiles. And when it was ready , when Bush was president, we didn't use it," he told Imus.
Begala also took a swipe at Bush National Security Advisor Condollezza Rice, telling Imus, "Frankly, I'm told, when Sandy Berger was briefing Condolleeza Rice during the transition, (he) told her to spend more time on bin Laden than anything else."

Hi, Mo and all..got laundry going at the moment while the hubby reads the paper! then I need to go to the grocery store and on the way I am going to make a stop at the junk shop/thrift shop...I want one of the bowls on a pedista (sp) for the cats. I had 2 and gave one away DUMB MOVE. bowl on a stand makes it easier for the older kitty to drink and eat and I don't like the stainless steel things...but the green glass one that I got flowers in once looks nice and it useful..so if I can find a couple for a few bucks..that is what I am going to do for Missie and Yummie.
Yummie is really Pi**ed off at me cuz I got fed up with him day before yesterday for whizzing on the bath mat again. It really Pi**ed me off...no he does not have a UTI...just a behaviour....so I went about fixing up the laundry room with his little bed and food bowls. He can come in during part of the day cuz he is like a doggie and will let me know when he needs to go out. He does his badkittynono late at nite while we are asleep. He is good about being in the laundery room but during the day he is nasty to me and lovey dovey to his daddy! Missie is getting plump! She looks so good and her fur is just so thick and luxurious now. I had forgotten what that was like after she became hyperthyroid. she is a doll. Yesterday she was standing on the headrest of the recliner meowing loudly as if to say lookie lookie here..look at me! She was proud of her little self! Got to get busy..will check in later..
Val the pics are just wonderful art!

Hi CeeGee - sorry to hear about the territorial marking situation. When we relocated to this house ten years ago, for no good reason one of the kitty boys decided that we needed the kitchen walls redecorated yellow. He had never done this in our old house.
This pissy behavior continued until the day last year that his last kitty brother crossed over the rainbow bridge.
Good luck with it. JL
