She is certainly slandering the Smarts big time and with absolutely no evidence to back it up. I know that's just fine with you but some of us have a little decency and respect for a family who has lost a child. It's not slander. The Smarts are suspects -- everyone connected with Liz are suspects.

To: varina davis; scaredkat
Are you related to the family? No I'm not. If you or anyone else provides one piece of evidence to back this crap up then I'll bash the family right along with you. Come on kat, put up or shut up.

The police have stated it on the air and in the newspaper.

Kat, you make some rather pointed accusations about this case that have not been in print. You claim you can back it up. I'm asking you to do so. If you can't, then it has no place here. You've gone beyond generalites and into specifics. That requires some kind of a source. Now once again, back it up or back off and retract it.

I just want some sources. I've been following this case along on this forum, and on the about.com forum, and haven't heard many of those things.
To: scaredkat
I'm going to bed now. I hope to find your source when I check tomorrow.

#616 Re: Poking around in libraries - and our library certainly wouldn't have allowed anything dirty in it. LOL!
Reminds me of how many times my junior & senior high schools showed us the movie "The Good Earth" but checking Pearl Buck's book out of the public library was a no-no.
Naturally, that only intensified my curiosity & determination to read it, hiding it among other books during my frequent visits.
The "dirty" words were "concubine" and "small, firm breasts."
This was in Los Angeles, CA!

Ed Smart says he felt safe in the neighborhood, yet he was so aware of the Beesley kidnap attempt 10 yrs before, that he immediately went to the Beesleys and said "check your kids."
Good observation, DA. As I recall, he said something like, "They took Elizabeth. Go check your kids." What a very odd statement; I've always thought so. And you're right. He ran straight to the Beesley house and yet left open his own garage door that night and didn't turn on the alarm.
To be fair to Ed, it was also a short time after his FIL passed away and who knows what kind of mental and emotional state he was in. Nevertheless, odd words and odd actions.
To: varina davis
If I did read "Peony", I don't remember it.
Am now reading Mario Puzo's last novel - the Borgias. As usual, I can't recall the title.
Took me forever to finish Kathryn Ann Goonan's "Crescent City Rhapsody." Nanotechnology and umpteen characters in & out, but a very good book.
