Hi MI... I was listening to the speech on the car radio while running errands this morning. President Bush was itemizing the UN's resolutions and Saddam's violations in detail from what I gathered while in and out of the car. I didn't hear the conclusion though.

People don't believe this, but within a couple of hours after the attack on Sept. 11, 2001, my friend in France sent an e-mail of shock and condolence and support for America. He sent me another yesterday :
I'll never forget, Valérie.
God bless America

W did us proud.
Great set-up of the formation of the UN, and why those dipwads get to mooch off America - and the real reason for their pitiful existence.
He then ennumerated the scores of UN resolution violations committed by saddam over the past two decades, told them that saddam was the one stealing the Oil for Food dollars that the UN was supposed to be administrating.
Next he told the delegates and the security council that we would work with them on a resolution calling for the destruction of all WOMD, the release of all political prisoners and captives, a change in the treatment of women and all other minorities, etc. etc. to be done immediately.
A very gracious speech saying that America is through jerking around with both saddam and the UN, and get ready for a change - with or without the UN.
kofi should have been wearing his heavy duty Depends today.

hmmmm... they've already had Andrew Young.
Bubba Clinton wants the job - so he can take Kofi's place and be emperor of the world and have an unlimited bank account and travel and female slaves around the globe.

Thanks folks, it's times like this that I really miss home.

A minor quibble, the speach ended with:
By heritage and by choice, the United States of America will make that stand. And, delegates to the United Nations, you have the power to make that stand, as well.
I would have prefered:
By heritage and by choice, the United States of America will make that stand. And, delegates to the United Nations, you have the power to stand with us.
To: Cuttnhorse
When you are with us, you are home...

Good job with the ending - thanks.

Thanks. I wanted to evoke "you are either with us or against us", without actually saying it...

The last 2 paragraphs of the President's speech as the AP reported it:
We know that Saddam Hussein pursued weapons of mass murder even when inspectors were in the country. Are we to assume that he stopped when they left? The history, the logic and the facts lead to one conclusion. Saddam Hussein's regime is a grave and gathering danger. To suggest otherwise is to hope against the evidence. To assume this regime's good faith is to bet the lives of millions and the peace of the world in a reckless gamble. And this is a risk we must not take.
Delegates to the General Assembly: We have been more than patient. We have tried sanctions. We have tried the carrot of "oil for food" and the stick of coalition military strikes. But Saddam Hussein has defied all these efforts and continues to develop weapons of mass destruction. The first time we may be completely certain he has nuclear weapons is when, God forbid, he uses one. We owe it to all our citizens to do everything in our power to prevent that day from coming.
