OMG.. isn't that disgusting? It's the same everywhere.. I know people up here in NH that just wanted to widen their dirt road down to their house.. Unfortunateltly it passed over a little stream.. They couldn't do it.. it might divert or disturb the stream.. Of course it wouldn't have been much wider than it was, but tough luck.

They are really getting out of control. You see the map that Loddy posted the other day and you realize just how much of the country they are buying up too. "They" want to control every little thing, and the humans come in dead last..

Psychotic part is: It's the county that's supposed to replace the bridge! And the UTILITIES company is having a fit. Usually, it's opposite this. A utilities company wants to put in a substation or a cable building (Phone company, little trailer without wndows that houses a mini router station and the like. Doesn't take up much room, could fit in most living rooms.) and the county is the one having a fit.

Heh heh, this time it's different. Too bad we're the ones getting the smelly end of the stick.
There's a guy up on rte 209 on the way out of Orange County whose driveway has a small bridge over a small stream. You could step over this stream normally. It's only problem is that it's inb a small ravine. Well.. his bridge fell in one fine winter, and he had to replace it in a hurry, or not be able to live in his house. So he goes out and gets everything he needs to redo his driveway.

Enter the bureacrat. He gets served with a cease and desist order. Seems his neighbors (a mile away) figured he might hurt Bambi by replacing his bridge in winter. So he made a small 'loop' in his driveway, and drove through the brook further down in his yard. Last I knew, they were still fighting that one out. Seems his brook has midges living in it.

Finally got rain. We actually needed it here. The local critters have had a heck of a time of it. The creek is lower than normal, so the local deer have taken to yards in search of a good drink. The local koi pond is now their staking out place. They've been guzzling the poor guys' pond like it's going out of style. He's having a fit about it. (This is the same guy who tried to stop them from replacing the bridge in the first place. He's our local environazi. He stated that tearing the bridge down would hurt the little fishies and froggies. He argued with the foreman, then checked the creek for animal parts... what a laugh. It's funny, actually.)
