I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on this one, sandude. I can't imagine that the posters here represent the views of a cross section of the general populace. I think this thread draws the personality types that want to try to defend the indefensible, attack the family, etc. I think the average fellow who logically sees this for what it is, a crime that Ricci was tied up in and stonewalling the police on, wouldn't bother going into a website to try to convince anyone one way or another on it.
Do you happen to remember off hand when Moul approximated the police first talked to him or came in and picked up the Jeep? And do you remember hearing if Moul contacted the police or if police came out to the repair shop looking for the Jeep?
I have no feelings of inadequacy. I have no reason to feel inadequate, but I also have no reason to make everyone believe I am drop-dead-gorgeous. I am who I am, and am not here to please anyone else.
Who would you suggest the media question about the case?
Hmmm....toughie. How about the people leading the investigation? By the way, who is doing that these days?
Add to the Yada, yada, yada -- the newest tidbits that a chair was used under the too small window just like the Wright case, the tidbit that Elziabeth fell outside, and that Ricci went around and bragged about how easy it was to ripoff the Smarts, ... yada.
Two possibilities here.
1) The Smarts and Chief Dinse are coordinated in their media efforts and the Chief OK's each and every pearl that Ed drops.
2) The Smarts are frustrated with the pace of the investigation and are not getting the Chiefs blessing and are dropping the little bit's of information that they know here and there to keep the media's attention.
I'd bet mostly on number 1 here with a little bit of Ed and Lois accidentally saying things that they shouldn't. The tap dance that they're doing is a tough one. They have never once voiced any displeasure with how LE is doing it's job. I think that the Jeanne Boylan thing was a mutual agreement that was meant mostly to ease peoples concerns. She was an independent arbiter who stated that the investigation was on the up and up. Good enough for me. What's your vote S-G?
why does the Smart clan continue to have press conferenes twice a week?
Because they want Elizabeth back. Don't you think the media helps them get people to continue to volunteer their efforts? We keep going over this S-G, so I guess you don't like my answers. Care to voice your opinion on the matter or should I keep answering the question in some different way each time until I get my point across? It's OK if we disagree but I would like to know what you think the family's motivation is.
Hmmm....toughie. How about the people leading the investigation? By the way, who is doing that these days?
The same people who were in charge from the beginning. I do think that the press would like LE to step up to the mike a little more often but that is not Dinse's style. I find it refreshing to see a public servant who doesn't try to stick his kisser into the mike everyday. We armchair detectives are frustrated but it makes for a more efficient investigation. The really amazing thing I see is the solidarity of the team. There appears to be no unauthorized leaks. You usually don't see that in something this high profile that has gone on this long.
You know that there are not as many detectives on the job anymore but there aren't as many leads. At some point the family may want to bring in a Mark Furman type but I guess they are not at that point. Can you guess what my next question will be? Who do you think is running the investigation? Come on S-G, lay it on out there.
My sample size was small so who knows. I asked about 10 guys here at work what they thought of Ed one day. Now these guys aren't really following things very closely but 3 of them had unfavorable opinions. It seems like the NE article did damage him. People heard about that and then they see his mannerisms and they think "Ya, that guys a fag". I do think that the family needs to sue the pants off of that rag when this is over and give the proceeds to a fund that helps locate missing children.
I noticed that, too.
I don't know about drinking "bear," but drinking a beer was probably the least of his worries, if he thought he was going to be questioned about something he didn't do (if he didn't do it).
Some people with chronic hypertension take BP meds daily so it WON'T spike. Moreover, it would be interesting to know if his BP was checked on a regular basis while in prison -- knowing he had a history of hypertension.
This description is useful if you consider that not every "5'8", Caucasian, dark hair, baseball hat, etc. man is going to be running around with a child (young lady) matching E's description.
We were not looking only for the man/person matching that description, we were also looking for that person who matched that description, maybe accompanied by a young girl and acting in a way uncharacteristic to their nature.
Street smart Ricci no doubt knew the LE would jump on anything that remotely pointed to him as a suspect because of his record.
Yes, but I don't think you want to hear it, sherlock.
