I Am Reinstating My Previously Witheld Monthly Payment To FR
vanity | 08-26-02 | mercy

Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.

It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.

But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.

Hmm... Usually I'm pretty good at picking up those things. I must not have drunk enough coffee today.

Hey you guys, can anyone else see it? Cuz I'm missing it. Post #30

Boy, going back and reading the post again, I still don't see where you made youre point about "not being humble."

Ya know, it really bothers me that I hurt your feelings. Could you please go back and help me find the place where it should be obvious to me that you were making the point that you know you aren't humble?

"B.S. I refuse to read further because I have a life."

As an incentive to get you to read my reply to your post and as an added incentive to read my thoughts on saving freedom in the United States, I have posted on that thread the means by which FreeRepublic could become financially independent through a program of giving the gift that keeps on giving.

You know, Louie, if I was really cruel I'd ping you to this thread, but I'm not, so I won't. :)

No, I sure didn't. I haven't worked my way through that whole thread yet. What an experience! Still in D.C. and won't be home until after my birthday on the ninth. Then finish the moving process.

Having computer access is great, but being at your own computer is even better!

giving the gift that keeps on giving

It's not a "gift" if it has strings attached, as in: I now can tell the owner what to do.

I refuse to read an opus by someone so obviously ignorant.

You didn't "hurt my feelings." I'm not a liberal. See, words are my business. And I actually said, "compared to you" -- making the point as described. Not worth further thought, other than to quickly add that I have never claimed to be, nor do I believe myself to be, humble. And I am proudly not so.

1. I'm going to running crying to those moderators - wait, 2 of them are bad people aren't they?

2. I'm going to remind you of your slave status and naughty slaves HAVE to be punished.

Interesting and instructive ping list you've cobbled together for this post. I quite like the company I keep.

I pinged those people because they posted in this thread, and they are people whom I remember. I wasn't making a point out of them, I was flagging them. Nothing more.

So, let me get this straight. You honestly believe that calling somebody a "nazi" is less perjorative than calling somebody a "cop hater?"

Certianly not. Perhaps I haven't been around here for a while, but I do not remember either side as having a monopoly on perjorative terms.

I have said before, and I'll say again that neither side is without its barbs. I would like to see more goodwill between us, rather than less. I think it serves to remind you all that it takes two to do the proverbial tango. If you would like less flamewars, and more focused discussions directed at defeating socialists, we would do well to remember that.

Described as "the skunk at the garden party of debate," the term and the individuals who use it to describe others are beneath contempt. I look upon those who throw the term around like a discarded chewing gum wrapper as not only offensive fools but losers as well; for they have run out of ideas and are simply throwing verbal feces.

There is an old saying from Usenet, called Godwin's Law:

As a Usenet discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches one.

It has correlaries that:

1. whoever called someone a "nazi" has lost the debate, and

2. it is probably time for the thread to die.

I believe you have the "beam" in the wrong eye, partner. Don't play the role of victim until you have been truly victimized.

What makes you say that I am playing the victim.

That was the farthest thing from my mind as I write this post.I know that there are some rather obnoxious people that claim the libertarian side of things. Heck, I've been called a "statist" too, what a silly insult. It's almost as meaningless as "nazi." But I want people to realize it takes two to tango.

I would like to extend my hand in friendship to you conservatives, despite whatever differences I may have with you all. I am asking for some gesture of good will. I am not rubbing your nose any anyone's droppings. to the contrary I'd like to get past those offensive fools on both sides.

Does this not meet with your satisfaction?

I had the experience of seeing the Starland Vocal Band get booed off the stage in the 70s...they were opening for the main act. People were actually throwing things...it was pretty nasty!

While your cause is noble, as I have said before, we are long past a political solution because there is a permanent ruling class not subject to elections. They run the many executive agencies, they staff the courts, and they keep quiet for at the end of the day, the system pays them well and there always enough Beltway sycophants to tell them what a good job they are doing for the 'cause.'

Our political goals should be simply states rights for some future version of secession or opting out, removing the ruling class from power, and chronicling the names of the many people who sold their souls to Leviathan.

It is a noble and worthy goal for a website that is better characterized as anti-ruling class than it is by any political persuasion. In the last several years, I do believe, that the libertarians and the Buchananites realize that we are not each other's enemies accept when we become single issue minded. That is a worthy accomplishment in the face of the split that occurred between the paleo-cons and the anti-ruling class Conservatives after Rothbard's death in the mid-nineties.

There is a power vacuum, not soon to be filled by Alan Keyes or any of the players currently in the farm system. Thus, I do not believe politics to be a field where we will win and our time is best spent discussing how to maintain our freedom, our traditions, our patriotism and our romantic devotion to the land dreamed by the forefathers.

Now if Conservatives voted enmass for a third party candidate, maybe the RNC would get the hint.

Most Constitution loving people are already concentrated in the R party. To move this concentration of constitution loving people to a third party will accomplish nothing except to dilute the constitution loving people over two parties over the period of time it would take to move all the Constitution loving people to this new party. And when you finally move all of these Constitution loving people over to this third party, what you still have is a minority of people who can't win a general election.

The best solution IMO is to change the minds of the general voting population from within the R party. The R party and the general election results will then follow from that.

The problem right now is not the R party, the problem is the general electorate. The statists of the world would love nothing more than for us patriots to think the problem is the R party.

And what did I post to you as to why? Because they were calling for people to register there using my name and others.

Glad you posted this comment because I was a little confused by your posts over there also. Does this mean you are not the TLBSHOW posting at LP?

Those posting that nonsense about causing problems for FR are the prime examples of people wasting their time and hurting the conservative cause. They should be fighting the democrats - but no - so much better to feed hateful, petty squabbles because something is not like it was before when their views were predominant. Or, they have been "hurt" and can't get over it and therefore must create a feud to get the attention directed to them and their problems.

Those of us who don't want to play these elementary school games should fight to make this site one of respected discussions - pro and con. If not, they will destroy it for all of us.
