We are supposed to be working together against the socialist Democrats in power, but a small but vocal group is calling me and others socialist brownshirts because we want to ban pornography, or because we want to encourage personal responsibility in others, and advance conservative family values in our society. How are we supposed to be working for a common goal? I want to fight socialists and lawlessness outside, not anarchists and cop-haters inside. That's a salient point, CJ.
I feel much the same way, if a bit from the opposite direction. How can we work together to stop the socialists when at the same time an equally vocal group is calling me a "cop-hater" which I am certianly not, or a proponent of "anarchism" which I am equally not. What are we to do?
Let us remove the beam for our eyes before considering the splinter in theirs, shall we? If we can work together at all, let us do so in the spirit of good will.

Yes, I have a problem with people who say one thing and then do the opposite. Example: You railing against posters at LP, then you show-up there yourself as a TROLL. I consider that two-faced and Clintonesque.
To: Taxman
Larry, all I care about is defeating the enemy. Either you are with us or you are against us. Then I guess that makes me against you, doesn't it? The tactics in use here are beyond reprehensible, and I will not subscribe to them.
If you really think that it's as simple as "with us or against us" Frank, then you really are part of the problem.
I don't think there's anything left for us to discuss. Have a nice day.

In fact, Republicans are so sure of this puppy-dog loyalty from conservatives (who seem to have no-where else to go) that they feel free to take their votes for granted no matter how much of the Democratic agenda they adopt. Precisely why I haven't called myself a "Republican" in more than 5 years now. I am a Conservative first, last and always.
Well said, B.A.

And attacks on the so-called "neocons" (which I translate as conservatives who don't hew to the narrow definition that some posters here have as to what a conservative should believe) are, IMO, just as much of a problem. I don't think I can disagree with your comments. My specific protestations are about the BEHAVIOR demonstrated by the neocons. And yes, I'm sure that behavior has been demonstrated on the other side of the aisle too. The civility here is gone. Has been for quite some time. I'm all for a reasoned, passionate debate on issues and ideology. What I am not for, are the insults, name-calling, harassment and haranguing that occurs here on a daily basis. There's a certain "thug" mentality here in that some people (and I speak in broad terms) think they can berate and bully others into their point of view, or shutting up altogether. There's that "you're either with us, or you're against us" mentality that I so dislike.
I'm sick of that behavior. As far as the neocon ideology, they're as welcome to their POV and ideology as I am to mine. What they are not welcome to, is displaying their rude, obnoxious behavior towards me or others here, simply because they disagree with our POV.
Is my position clear to you know?
To: RedBloodedAmerican
Woops! My bad! I thought he was only suspended and free to return when the suspension was done. I thought he chose to stay away, maybe due to his inability to make right a wrong he did with Howlin. Somewhere upthread Jim requested I give it a rest with regard to moderators. I have. I suspect he would also ask that this dispute be put to rest.
Point is, we both are a bit concerned with actions of late. But I've put mine to rest in the interest of the site as a whole. Perhaps you will join me and decide that the rest is water under the bridge? A new start would be a good thing for all of us.
To: usconservative
Your position is quite clear.
However, the civility has not been lost just due to the "neo-cons." It takes two to tango on this matter, and I've seen neoconservatives het slammed pretty hard by some people here.

And what did I post to you as to why? Because they were calling for people to register there using my name and others. I was alerted to the fact by 2 posters here, one being DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet and I freep mailed her back as to my intention. Also Jim Robinson was alerted to this fact they wanted people to post as freepers from here. He was alerted to the fact by the second freeper that contacted me.
If you have a problem with it, I really don't care. I will bash the anti-freepers all I can now that I am there. If you don't like it don't read what I say to them.
I would think you would do the same thing, and protect your name and you kind of did by you now being registered there.

Question. What do you think would happen if a large majority of the conservative base decided to boycott the next elections and stay home? Would the RNC continue down the path they are on, or would they try to figure out what went wrong and make changes?
I think they'd misinterpret a "stay at home campaign" and go further left as the lefties are getting votes.
Now if Conservatives voted enmass for a third party candidate, maybe the RNC would get the hint.
To: TLBSHOW
Lame excuse.

What do you think would happen if a large majority of the conservative base decided to boycott the next elections and stay home?Conservatives can keep the GOP from winning elections, but it takes more than just Conservatives to keep the GOP from losing elections.
Now if Conservatives voted enmass for a third party candidate, maybe the RNC would get the hint.
If Conservatives did that, they woul no longer be part of a major party or in the political mainstream.

You are talking in circles. That's fine if it brings you comfort to think that you are important, but it does nothing to convince anyone else that you have a viewpoint worth considering, let alone agreeing with.

I should have been more clear. I was thinking less about a mass-exodus, more like a targeted strike say (one race of little importance per state or just some states) that would be used to get attention. Heck the GOP wins when it runs right ('80,'94)
The fact that the Senate is getting more RINO disturbs me. We've got to get better in the primaries.
To: Sir Gawain
oh well! As I said no one is going to use my name at another forum to do whatever they want.

The Admins at LP make you verify if you want to use your FR name. No one but you would've been able to sign up as TLBSHOW anyway.

About last night on Mercy's thread, I owe you all an apology for my behavior. I was divisive and way out of line.
To those I offended I am deeply sorry.

thank you for this post, b.a.c. your love for this country shines brilliantly in it.
thank you for articulating it so beautifully.

Jim is not a part of the problem, he presents a forum where each of us speak our mind, Republican, Independant, or Libertarian. The problem we all have is that we are Balkanized.
I live in Mass and and have to play the game by the rules delt me, so I work with the Libertarians, for which I have been flaimed, Independants and any other group that will present the Conservitive cause on issues that concern me.
The 1996 election was the last gasp of the Rinos and is history, what counts is the Now. We can either destroy ourselves by arguement over minor issues or agree on issues that are common to all of us and work for them.
FR gives us a forum that allows a nation discussion of the issues, how we in each of the states that we live in handle them is is our proplem, JimRob may have an opinion and a strong one, but he lives in Kali and I live in Mass, what may work there may not work here.
Remember on the Libs agree on every thing.

No they didn't beyond asking me at my email if I had signed up. There was nothing about my being from FR. Stop your spinning for what ever your reason for doing so is.
