Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.
It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.
But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.
P f f f f f t ....
It is also of extreme signifcance who holds the House and Senate.
The Supreme Court hangs in the balance. Surely, the 3rd party-ites care more about the next few decades than bragging to their buddies that they were rebels, don't they ????
Sadly, in some cases, I think the answer is a resounding "No". It's all about them and the no-one-is-conservative-enough mantra/agenda.
You're even invited to CJ, maybe you'd loosen up a bit. [wishful thinking]
I'm glad you're learning. I've seen you, post after post after post, talking down to people who have been here a LOT longer than you have. And after you make so many posts like that, eventually people who normally don't comment to you might speak up and criticise you. Then you act surprised and shocked that "someone you don't even know" has "attacked" you. Remember there's 80 some thousand members on this site and who knows how many more lurking - do you really think everyone is going to give you high fives? If you did not appear so consistently condescending to others, then I would not be bothering you.
It's like you think this is a chat room where only your friends are invited to participate.
You did offer to leave and like a lot of things you say, that was pretty melodramatic. You shouldn't have said that. If for no other reason than because now you are going to be reminded of it occasionally.
That being said, I won't ask you to leave, even if Registered does come back. There's enough room here for all. I wish that you would look at it the same way.
And one more thing - you seem to be obsessed with that other site. It seems you must spend a lot of time there since you bring it up about every fourth post. Why don't you just stay away, if you hate it so much - instead of trying to make a list of who's been naughty or nice? Just because someone posts there, does not necessarily make them your, or this sites, enemy.
As someone else said - its just a website.
Sometimes you have to accept water when you're dehydrated even if fine champagne is your preference. But if you don't drink at all, you die.
Reality is a funny thing. It's always undeniable.
The fact is, there IS a "dime's worth of difference" between Republicans and Democrats. To deny the reality of the two-party system and to refuse to work within that framework is dangerous, I'm afraid. Did I mention how terrified I am of a president named Hillary Clinton? I love the military, and that truly scares me. We will have it if we insist on tipping over the Monopoly board over every less-than-perfect decision President Bush may make.
Unless things change drastically I doubt I will ever cast a vote for the winner in a presidential election. But to limit myself to picking just a Republican or Democrat is just choosing between the lesser of two evils, and that my friend is no choice at all.
A good question. It's Hillary versus George, but very few ideologues are stupid enough to sit on their hands out of principle, and allow Hillary to do her mischief for 4 or 8 years. I would venture that Browne's replacement whoever it will be would get very few votes.
That is a crock and you know it. I lurked the Keyes threads, I dislike the man so much I dared not post on them, and believe me the "talking down to" went down both streets. There is more than one "clique", damn what a juvenile word, and I for one am sick of the "victim hood" crap being claimed around here.
Yes and while we deal with the devastation, the perpetually unhappy people will still be slapping each other's backs for showing the world that they are so fiercely independent. What a farce !!!!!
Nah, it isn't. :)
That would be the biggest motivation I could have for voting for W again. Call this tinfoil, but maybe that is by design... the only choice allowed is the same old sameold, lesser of two evils... am I supposed to be happy about that? Well I'm not.
So very true what you said. Texasforever is very great and very real, regardless of which side of the issues one is on with him.
