Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.
It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.
But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.

****It takes us all to make it work and we must reach some consensus on just HOW it will work. Jim cannot to this alone. I'm sure he does not want to. The idea seems to me to be that as many of us as possible take on as much accountablity and responsibility as possible.****
Yes, I'm a complete idiot. Thanks for pointing that out. Any more ad hominem attacks while you're on a roll?

Politicians follow two things, money and
votes.

"Free Republic is a place for people to discuss our common goals regarding the restoration of our constitutionally limited republican form of government. Thanks, Jim"Jim hasn't lost sight of the goal, but I am unaware that he has a vision or plan for achieving it other than voting for Republicans in spite of the fact that Republicans seem intent on following the Democrats into socialism. In some cases Republicans have seemed anxious to lead the parade. Robinson seems determined to ignore the only plan that has been offered that might have some realistic means of achieving his stated goals. Perhaps he or anyone else will provide links to or post their plan for convincing Republicans to enforce and to obey the Constitution.
To: Senator Pardek
Republicans cannot be elected without the votes of conservatives. As long as they can take the conservative vote for granted, Republicans will pander to the left of center or even far left votes. That is why they have no fears or reservations about offering to support a prescription drug bill or in delaying action on the privitization of Social Security. If conservatives with-hold their votes in only one election, Republicans will bring to the floor for a vote anything we demand. The Contract with America worked! That is why the media and Democrats are scared to death of sites like this one. FreeRepublic can be the catalyst that brings forth a new Contract with America. This is not complex or difficult.
Simplicity is a beautiful thing.
To: Senator Pardek
"Successful pols win because they back things such as the income tax, handgun control, Social Security, Medicare, etc... A winning politician knows how to please his customers."Then how do you account for polls that show Americans favor privatizing Social Security by a two to one margin?
This country is not a democracy; it a republic governed by a Constitution. If there is no hope that the country is going to be governed under its Constitutional precepts, and politicans and voters intend to run it as a democracy, then it is time to start the secessions and if necessary, to start the shooting.
I don't know where you stand, but where it comes to my freedom, it is going to be my way or it will be over somebody's dead body. I suggest that you give some consideration to my way.

"Occasionally the electorate grows a backbone and calls them, like Washington state did when it pitched Speaker of the House Tom Foley out on his ear."Hear! Hear!

I think JR was on the right track when he started the RLC forum, and endorsed their platform.
Unfortunatly, the concept has laid a big egg.
-- I suspect because the Rino contingent at FR is far higher than anyone admits. Far to many self described 'conservatives' here, in reality, want big brother to pass laws to control their version of morality.
The RLC position does NOT support such single issue violations of our constitution.

I certainly do not wish to butt in here but I will anyway. LOL Strela you are one of my favorite freepers on this site and I agree with you almost 100% on every issue. You just articulate them better than I can. On the other hand, Liberal Classic and I agree about 50 % of the time and he is also one of my favorite freepers because he is so darned evenhanded, consistent and even-tempered, all traits I conspicuously lack. I was really shocked to learn that LC was not posting here any longer and have been wondering why. Now I will butt out.

I thought I was one of your favorite FReepers:(

I am looking, but remember reading that a rock hit the vehicle which the White House press secretary was riding in. But no matter. Uh-huh, sure you are. I believe you. hehehe
By all accounts they were violent protesters, and personally I am not surprised that a self-avowed libertarian is here condemning the police who were dutifully discharging their duties to secure the inalienable rights of Americans in the face of violent anarchist and communist demonstrators.
I suppose that's what I should expect coming from a fascist with no conscience who is willing to lie even when it is obviously untrue. Sigh. Perhaps one of the bushbots will swallow your line of mistruth, but it isn't going to fly with me. I'm here. I know how the donnybrook went down. I don't have to make up false stories like you.
To: Texasforever; Liberal Classic
I hadn't heard that LC had bowed out of posting here. If true, it would be a grievous loss for us. I've bumped heads with LC on a very few issues, but have agreed with him/her much, much more.
I fervently hope its not true.
To: Fred Mertz
I have a whole list. LOL Believe it or not you can admire a worthy opponent (meaning positions) even if you vehemently disagree with him. There are more than a few around here that fit the bill with me. You included, even though I thought differently until recently.
To: strela
I had heard that 3rd hand. I agree with you.
