I Am Reinstating My Previously Witheld Monthly Payment To FR

Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.

It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.

But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.

The party drives the boat and for the last few years it has demonstrated total disregard for the sentiment of the electorate.

I respectfully disagree.

As varied as the views are at FR, if "averaged out", it would only represent about (at most) 5% of the electorate.

How many voters want to eliminate SS? The Income Tax? The Dept. of Education? Commerce? HHS?

How many want to disarm the WOD? Abolish discrimination laws? Handgun regulation?

The parties play to the voters. If any politician saw that the American people wanted this stuff, they'd campaign on those issues in a heartbeat, or some candidate would come out of the woodwork and carry the banner.

It's illogical to expect a pol to listen to his base when there are so many more votes to be had by emotion and soundbyte driven soccer moms...

I suppose I could have said "I wish I knew what 'delusion' was" but that would have been a little stilted IMO.

"professional" should mean anything

In truth - all of us that are paid for our services as we earn livings and support our families are also "professional" as in "professional lawyer", "professional engineer", "professional admin".

Sounds more like an ego trip to me.

That's much worse pain ... thinking " your " side can walk on water , but , deep in the guts, knowing it's not true .

Oh I think most of them *do* think it's true, still!

Your abject lack of knowledge ... historical, political, and goevernmental, is shocking !

There you go again. Have you no other tricks in your old bag?

You do seem quite obsessed with what to write next, to me, whilst utterly ignoring whatever I post. Ergo, post away, kiddo ; everyone will just sit back and laygh at your banal, inane, unclever, dumbed down posts.

You are wishing that I didn't ignore your insults and caustic blather? Sorry, but it gets old pretty quick. Especially when it lacks creativity.

Why not attempt to explain, here, in cogent English , how Congress , alone, can overturn something such as legal abortion, how long that would take ( considering the makeup of both Houses ), and the fact that ( hint, hint ) the previous president was sent a Bill, that outlawed partial birth abortion and vetoed it. Thatnks for trying to participate; to bad you are incapable of doing so with any worth whatsoever. :-)

They can't overturn it alone. We both know that. Of course, that is an irrelevant and cheap attempt at a dodge on your part. Since you brought up the issue of the previous bills that were vetoed, perhaps I should remind you that the Republicans had the votes to override that veto, but decided instead to hold onto it and use it as an election issue instead. Of course, at the time the kool-aide drinkers were saying how it was such wise political maneuvering because now they could use it to gain seats and then pass it any time they liked later. Unfortunately here we are with how many dead children on the hands of the politically astute?

So, tell me about that Department of Education that Bush eliminated, would you? I'm still not quite clear on how he is going to spend them out of existence.

You believe the R party disregards the sentiment of the electorate -- I beleive it gives the electorate what it wants minus a sliiigth nod to it's base. If I may be quite frank -- and frankly speaking I am -- I was a third party advocate when I was a kid -- you are a third party advocate now.

Actually, that is incorrect. I'm am not a third party advocate. I'm still a registered Republican, though I only vote in self defense now. Frankly, even that is a waste of time as election fraud makes it a virtual waste of time.

The libertarian rhetoric I have come in contact with through FreeRepublic, Liberty Post and all the other anti sites does not reflect well on Libertarians. It sounds more intelligent than DU but appears rather mean-spirited and hateful to me. Of course, you and some others do not fit that description. Just the preponderence of it forms that impression.

Forgive me for butting in, but you just described how I have come to view some "conservatives" since coming to FR.

I hope I didn't rain on your epiphany.

Why is it when the word libertarian is mentioned, I immediately have visions of a dogmatic, opininated anti law, anti government, porn and drug promoter, hateful, disrespectful, inconsiderate, pompous person -- ? ClancyJ

You are absolutely right.

We all complain about the RINOs in Congress, but forget they are elected by a RINO constituency.

I guess the same can be said for DINOs. In Texas, Ralph Hall (D-Rockwall) is consistantly elected by conservative Democrats, and votes more conservatively than his Republican peers from the upper North East.

The electorate did not want campaign finance reform, the anti-patriot act, or federalization of the airport screeners. Well, I suppose the radical left may have wanted some of that, but the vast majority of people who vote Republican did not. Yet, Bush looked us in the eye and signed it all anyway.

How would they know?

Unless the suggestion comes with a $1,000 check from a couple thousand people they could care less.

Apparently you don't know me. I am the above only out of your list.

I was not speaking of you at all in my comments earlier. I was talking in generalities of the impressions I pick up as I read posts (not even paying attention to the poster names). I should have blocked your name out when I copied his statement to my reply.

What ever happened to that double-p1unched ballot theory in PB? Didn't they all have Gore as one of the punches -- ya know, Gore/Bush, Gore/Buchanan, Gore/* ...... The info on that just kind of faded away, even here at FR.
