The Ward Weaver case is just too weird for words.
Ward Wearers father killed two people and burried him in the back yard. Ward Weaver Turned him in.
Ward Weaver has buried two girls in the back yard. His son turned him in.
I hope they keep a close idea on the son in the future.

It was Ward Weaver's brother who turned in his father, I think. His father is also named Ward Frances Weaver. His son is known as Frances Weaver.
This Ward Weaver also has a criminal record that people in the neighborhood should have known about, so they could have told their kids not to hang out at his house, and the school bus stop should have been located elsewhere.

Maybe the very moment of the first strike.

Well I don't know if that is the evidence Bush will need
That has been drudged up so many times .. and so many stories have been floated .. many will just rip that excuse apart
My guess is Bush has plenty of other evidence

If someone wrote a novel that took the course of the Weaver family, it would have been trashed by critics as too unbelievable, or too predictable. I wish the police in Oregon City weren't so critical of the story that they refused to finish it for so many months.

Have you tried out any night time vision goggles yet? I'll bet y'all look cute in them.
I'm wondering when the FBI first got involved in the case of the missing Oregon girls. If they have been investigating this all along and the best they could do for the girls and their families up until this weekend has been NOTHING, when the suspect is so obvious, then heads need to roll throughout the whole blamed organization. Once again, the evidence of their ineptness reaches tragic proportions.

20 years later, he still hasn't been executed.

Ore. Suspect's Father on Death Row
Sunday, August 25, 2002 Last updated at 10:29:06 AM PT
By ANDREW KRAMER, ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER
OREGON CITY, Ore. -- Two decades before investigators searching for two missing girls found human remains in a shed behind the home of Ward Weaver, the body of a raped and murdered woman was found buried in his father's yard.
Weaver's father, Ward Francis Weaver Jr., is now on death row in California for two murders.
The truck driver was convicted of killing a man whose car had broken down and for kidnapping, raping and murdering the man's girlfriend, 23-year-old Barbara Levoy. Her body was found in 1982 buried beneath a deck at his home in Oroville, Calif.
The prosecutor in that case, Ron Shumaker, said the elder Weaver's truck route also matched up with 26 unsolved hitchhiker homicides but he was never charged with any of the other crimes, The Oregonian reported Sunday.
....Weaver, who has described himself as a suspect in Ashley and Miranda's disappearance but has denied any involvement, has been jailed since Aug. 13 on an unrelated charge of raping the girlfriend of his 19-year-old son. The son called 9-1-1 after the alleged rape and said his father had killed the two missing girls.
The younger Weaver has a record of brushes with the law. In the 1980s he served three years in a California prison for beating a baby sitter with a block of concrete and for credit card forgery.
One of his two wives, Maria, accused him of threatening to have her shot in 1993 and obtained a restraining order against him, according to The Portland Tribune. They divorced two years later.
A future wife, Kristi Sloan, accused him in 1995 of hitting her over the head with a cast-iron skillet as she slept. The assault charge was dismissed because of evidentiary problems with police seizure of the skillet. Weaver and Sloan married in 1996 but were divorced four years later.
Weaver has admitted in interviews that he had a close relationship with one of the missing girls, Ashley. He told The Associated Press last month that he took her along with his daughter and his girlfriend on a vacation trip to California last year.
During the trip, he said, they stopped at San Quentin Prison to visit his father, on Death Row.

This is a pretty photo in the Seattle PI paper, but one detail will keep it from ever winning any awards: the decapitated silhouettes of the fishermen.

Town abuzz over police chief's nearly naked online personal ad
POWERS, Ore. -- It's not unusual for Rhett Davis to wear a cowboy hat, sunglasses and cowboy boots.
But when residents of this tiny town saw Davis in an ad posted on americansingles.com, they were amazed that he wasn't wearing anything else.
Davis, 45, is a lonesome cowboy. He also happens to be the police chief in this 700-person town in the Siskiyou Mountains southwest of Roseburg.
No one is saying who found Davis' ad first, but within two days of its posting last week, it was all over town.
Someone pinned the photo of the scantily clad chief -- with the hat strategically placed -- on the community bulletin board at the town grocery. People handed copies of it to their neighbors and friends. Others sent it via e-mail to chains of people.
Davis, who intended only females seeking males in the 45-year-old age category to see the photo, quickly pulled it off the Web site.
"That's nobody's business," he said, dressed in a dark blue patrol uniform Thursday.
Besides, he said, he was wearing a swimsuit behind the cowboy hat.
"I was a little self-conscious," he said of the bikini-style swimsuit. "They don't cover anything."
So he used the hat for coverage. Davis said he regrets using the photo, but it was the only one he had showing his athletic body. After all, his ad tells women not only that he's romantic and a bit of a dreamer, but, "I have a wild side, I am not shy and I can surprise you."

When Clinton bombed Serbia in support of the KLA criminals (aka "ethnic Abanians") in Kosovo, he also supported this heroin trafficking network by Islamists ... Russia had many good reasons to oppose the attack.

Drugs are Russia's ticking time bomb
By Judith Ingram, The Associated Press
MOSCOW Hidden inside cabbages, hollowed walnuts, even the bellies of desperately poor pregnant women, Afghan heroin steadily flows into Russia, joining a stream of illegal drugs that officials warn is a growing threat to the nation's stability.
Over the past five years, Russia has become a major way station on the trafficking route from Afghanistan to European markets.
After a monthlong lull at the start of the war in Afghanistan last fall, the trade has picked up again, Russian police say. They report seizing 1,100 pounds of heroin so far this year, along with more than 2,000 pounds stopped on the border between Afghanistan and the former Soviet republic of Tajikistan.
"We expect a flood of drugs, which are now growing in Afghanistan, in the second half of the year," said Oleg Kharichkin, deputy director of the Russian Interior Ministry's narcotics division.
Afghanistan isn't the only culprit. Traffickers use organized-crime channels to ship cocaine from Latin America through Russian seaports to Europe and the United States. Peddlers bring in the stimulant ephedrine from China. Amphetamines and other synthetic drugs come from Europe, especially Poland. Ukrainians, Lithuanians and Belarusians smuggle in poppy straw.
But it is Afghan heroin that has become the narcotic of choice for addicts in Russia, where more than 3 million people are estimated to be hooked on drugs. That is nearly 2.1 percent of the population, which compares to 1.6 percent in the United States, as estimated by the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy.....
