Good morning everyone!
In national news, the President continues, much to the media's annoyance, his Crawford, Texas, vacation.
Bush says he's listening to differing voices on the Iraq question. [Presumably the media feels reassured about this...]
Baseball players have set Aug. 30 as strike day if significant progress with the team owners hasn't been achieved by then.
Locally, more rain yesterday for our parched area, and
a police officer, shot and killed in the line of duty, was buried with moving tributes and ceremony on Friday.

I just found out I left my electric razor in San Antonio. They want to take pictures tonight. Sheesh. I'll have to break out the emergency Bic(tm). I hate those things.

Thanks so much for spending your bandwidth on me, ISB. It means so much to know that you are thinking of my daughter and what she's going through. It really does.
Perhaps when you started having trouble adjusting to all the changes, it came as a surprise to your family because they'd seen you go through all of it so many times before. That could be happening here. We had been a little concerned about the 14-year-old because she's painfully shy, but she has made the adjustment and shown me a great deal of inner strength. I think she's going to be one strong woman who will stand for truth.
The 10-year-old is a fabulous kid, and I don't think that's just a father's pride speaking. She is very soft-hearted and yet has never seemed afraid of anything. If I scold her and am overly cross about it -- which happens all too often -- she will shed a few tears, but almost immediately sense that there's something more that's upsetting me and she'll want to help make it better by hugging me.
My biggest fear, honestly, is that in school her teachers will never see how great a kid she is. She's a rare jewel, but when you have a whole schoolful of kids, it may take someone with rare abilities to spot how special she is.
The good news is that she's had at least 3 days without crying now and reports that things are going better. She got a 95% on spelling and that's probably her hardest subject so that's a big encouragement.
By the way, our 6-year-old has been bored and though she loves school, she doesn't like to have to cover ground she's been over in homeschool. She was always asking for more and harder work at home, but in school she can't always get that request satisfied. Moving her up to 2nd grade is still an option, but we've decided to allow the teacher to get her accelerated program up and running first to see how that works.
Thanks again for your prodigal use of bandwidth, isb.

I always blame the woman, because the woman is always at fault. (And the goo factor only applies to hidden messages, does it not?)
To: Bitwhacker
"Oh I am sooo confused", she says while innocently batting her baby blues.
