Good morning everyone!
In national news, the President continues, much to the media's annoyance, his Crawford, Texas, vacation.
Bush says he's listening to differing voices on the Iraq question. [Presumably the media feels reassured about this...]
Baseball players have set Aug. 30 as strike day if significant progress with the team owners hasn't been achieved by then.
Locally, more rain yesterday for our parched area, and
a police officer, shot and killed in the line of duty, was buried with moving tributes and ceremony on Friday.
In the "sorta funny" catagory, the kids in the class that I'm in are getting their orders to their bases now. One girl asked the instructor if he knew anything about the base to which she had been assigned.
Deep breath.... He told her that a lot of people at that base have been deployed to somewhere in the middle east in support of our actions there. She instantly broke down crying.
I almost feel sorry for her, but didn't she understand that she was joining the MILITARY? You know, those people that go where the fight is? LOL! It was a growth moment for her, I'm sure.

Hmmm. Prayers for you.
I should be pretty safe, I don't drink to excess, I don't chase skirts (he said, the day that Trill is at her concealed handgun class), and I'm pretty careful to watch my surroundings.
I'm thinking of it as a two week shopping trip/cultural exchange with a little work and training thrown in. Grin!

HA! Coming from you ... I believe the icky principal which was misspelled by me earlier ... should find himself a tidy-hidey-hole ...
I can picture perfectly the reception you received from your pups!
All thoughts of which one stole the rump roast off the counter were forgotten, I think ... in your *joy* just to be with them again.
I was thinking today how serendipitous ... it is that *sparkles* came here to me and Old Soul ... for Old Soul watches over him ... guards him ... and when the younger is deep in the throws ... Old Soul stands calmly by ... waiting for his pal to return. 'Tis true ... He does work in mysterious ways ...
HAR! I am always wondering about those lurkers who never talk ... what they think when a topic takes on a life of its own ... me ... bringin' Him into a discussion about my pups ...
The one seizure was scary, Jemian ... for I had him by the collar ... thinkin' he was done ... and thought to steady him ... when it started again and he ended up wingin' us both onto the floor and into the table ... we both were discombobulated when it was finally over.
When you see what I did, you'll understand why it went so fast. I try to work smart, not hard. grin!

As far as school goes, I have adopted a policy of non-agression, but firmly standing my ground. I don't seek compromise as readily as I once did.

A country a bit to the west of me? Or do you have to kill me now?
In your wondrous way, /john ... you tuck such wisdom in amongst your words. *grin*
I so appreciate you, I do ...
How are things at work? I am thinking that you were considering becoming a union rep for your group. Did that ever pan out? How is that going?
How was the trip back??
