I had a lot of fun finding photos for today's thread. I love so many of the old shows and movies. Great memories that we all can share.

I love musicals! Sound of Music, The Music Man, West Side Story, The King and I, Camelot, My Fair Lady, Evita, Mary Poppins even. My mom would let us watch them on the TV when we were bored, it was a big treat.

Love those old shows too. I just read today that the guy who plays Tony Soprano is going to play Jackie Gleason soon in a movie version of his life. He is a method actor so is going to gain a lot of weight so he will be as big as Gleason....

I don't recognize that photo, JL. And I can't read the autograph either.

It looks sort of like Goldie Hahn, but I can't tell for sure.

BTW are you watching the USDA crop report? We are sitting on a good sized pile of corn from last year,, decisions, decisions. Someone, somewhere in my family tree was most certainly a riverboat gambler.

Morning Gran. Goldie's sig is even worse than mine - that's from Private Benjamin. She's moving to British Columbia to devote all her time to being a hockey mom...guess the kids don't like soccer or something.

Farming has to be one of the biggest gambles of all - we've cleared out all the bins and are waiting till fall to roll the dice again. Having our own bins/dryers/etc has been a very good thing for our tenants and us - but it's still a crap shoot.

Good luck on your next roll. JL

As far North as your property is,,, bins and dryers are a sound investment. We have always had them since I arrived on the farm 35 years ago. Don't know when this family made their first purchase.

60 miles South of here, no one owns a dryer. They leave the crop in the field until it is dry enough to pick. Some years they 'get caught' with bad weather, but not often.

Iowa Ag Secretary Patty Judge today announced that Governor Vilsack will sign a proclamation proclaiming August 5-11, 2001 Iowa Farmer's Market Week.

The signing will take place in the Capitol rotunda at 4:00pm Tuesday, July 24, 2001.

Officials from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and market managers from Des Moines, Johnston, Clinton, Red Oak, Muscatine, Davenport and Spencer will join the Governor for the proclamation signing.

Every week is farmer's week as far as I'm concerned, proclaims lodwick from his command center.

The Farmers Market folks are growing table crops and flowers. Their numbers seem to be growing,, especially around the metro area. Hobby farms are beginning to turn a profit.

I've been thinking about converting to Judyism.

Judy Tenuta is the most famous person that ever lived. If you don't believe it just ask her! The stand-up comic/actress who describes herself as a "multi-media Bondage Goddess" and "the Aphrodite of the Accordion", is actually a caring nurturer who wakes up at 8PM to verbally abuse countless herds of mortal swine (her audience) and converts them to her signature religion "Judyism". Her fans ranging from fetuses to fossils, gays to geishas, all beg to chew her gum and kiss her feet because she is the only "fun-feminist of the 90's" who preaches that all women should be worshipped as "Love Goddesses", and all men have an equal opportunity to become her furniture.....It could happen!

Judy hits the stage in long flowing "goddess gowns", and took a bite out of the Big Apple. She was the very first stand-up to win "Best Female Comedian" at the American Comedy Awards. That same year she became the National spokesperson for a series of Diet Dr. Pepper commercials where she proclaimed "You can't get a body like mine in a bottle unless you punch real hard."

Judy has starred in her own HBO, Showtime, and Lifetime Specials and has been seen on every major talk show. Most recently she was a special correspondent for "American Journal", and "Entertainment Tonight," where she conducted interviews with such celebrated public figures as Donald Trump and Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Judy has also had two smash comedy CD's and nominated twice for Grammy Awards for her "Attention Butt-Pirates and Lesbetarians", and "In Goddess We Trust". She is also the author of "The Power of Judyism" (Harper-Collins).

Most recently, Judy has produced and starred in her own feature film, "Desperation Blvd." . A romantic comedy about a former child star who stops at nothing to make a comeback. Currently seeking distribution, this hilarious but touching film , costars academy award nominated actor, Michael Lerner, Erin Moran, and Weird Al Yankovic. And regarding Judy's performance, the L.A.Tims says, "Move over Meryl Streep." It could happen!

Good Morning! We can't forget Carol Burnett.

And our favorite Carol character...
