McAuliffe Cleared Bush Bash Speech With Clinton, Gephardt, Daschle
Mon Aug 12 2002 10:57:47 ET

Althought remarks by DNC Chairman Terence R. McAuliffe this weekend were made with an eye to helping Democratic candidates in the Congressional elections this fall, they also were an aggressive effort to lay out a potential plan of attack for the Democratic presidential candidates who are already preparing for 2004.

NYT reports: McAuliffe's aides "said he viewed this, after a long period in which attacks on Mr. Bush were largely muted, as an effort to usher in a new political season. He spoke as Democratic leaders closed a meeting in which they seemed increasingly confident that Mr. Bush can be defeated in 2004 because of problems in the economy and on Wall Street. They also expressed confidence that they would maintain or increase their numbers in the Senate this fall, and might win control of the House." McAuliffe "said he reviewed the speech with former President Bill Clinton; the House minority leader, Richard A. Gephardt; and Tom Daschle, the Senate majority leader."

Oh goodie. Thanks for posting about HLL and the return of the very yellow pantsuit. But check out the Hillary clone in the picture-black pantsuit in the August sun....

I read somewhere, maybe here, that the Rosie O magazine had made the decision to remove Rosie from the cover of each and every issue, Rosie says she's glad. I know I'm glad that I won't have to look at her face everytime I checkout at the grocery store.

And Nic and Lisa...I had not heard. Interesting....Bet M.J. wishes he had "hung onto her and her millions" as he is in such financial troubles that he might have to sell NeverLand-his zoo, her cryofreezing machine-the whole shebang..

Belushi, John Candy, Chris Farley - one of that lot (except that they're all dead and Rosie O'Donut is still with us).

I know I'm glad that I won't have to look at her face everytime I checkout at the grocery store.

I don't suppose her new butch haircut and 300+ pound physique were considerations in the new editor's decision to keep her off the cover. After all, they want to sell magazines, not scare people away.

White House Correspondents Cut Loose in Texas , a funny parody about the president's "vacation" in Crawdad (not Crawford), Texas, and how the media types are coping.

Here's a sample: There was some question about the hospitality of Crawdad after parent Sherri Butoutski complained to local police that the presence of some reporters put her children's—and their pet gerbil—safety at risk. That problem was settled by a special badge distributed to all reporters by the White House that says in big letters, "I AM A MEMBER OF THE PRESS AND MAY POSE A DANGER TO SMALL CHILDREN, PET RODENTS, AND THE 2ND, 5TH, and 6TH AMENDMENTS.”
