AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 569) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | August 12, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 08/12/2002 4:03:05 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good Morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

US Airways Group became the first major airline to declare bankruptcy since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Israel has announced they will not sit quietly in the event of an Iraqi attack in response to an American descent.

Authorities placed the Golden Gate Bridge on a "superheightened" state of alert yesterday as credible terrorist threats became known.

Algore may think he deserves another run for the Presidency, but he has had trouble where it counts - convincing donors he has that right. His ability to raise funds for another Presidential run has not been very good.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Morning, Molly!

Back from Milwaukee last night, leaving for St. Paul Friday, back from that Sunday, leaving for Ft. Knox on Tuesday! Whew!!! I have anticipation fatigue!!

We got Daughter #1 settled in a wonderful little studio right at the edge of Marquette's campus. It's in an old building, immaculately clean, and well kept. Her apartment has bright white walls with dark mahogany woodwork, including crown molding and built in china cabinets. It has loads of storage space, and it's going to be perfect for a single graduate student.

We had 5 of us to move her in (all of us except Eric, of course.......sigh....), so we had an assemby line up the stairs of the apartment building and got her stuff completely moved in in less than an hour. What a sight!!

Today she meets with the Prof she's doing research for, gets a parking permit, phone, and details like that.

On Saturday night she gave me a big hug and said "I love you guys so much!!!" .........makes everything worthwhile when you hear those words......especially from a 22 year old!

btw, Molly......you gotta work on some of those relatives!!

And Miss Marple........no more Spongebob, ya hear??

Good morning, Miss Molly.

Heavy duty "music" week this week. I'm leaving shortly for a rehearsal for the theater group I'll be performing with this fall (this is the group that will be touring schools in the area with a musical based on Aesop's Fables.) Tomorrow is rehearsal for a concert I'll be playing for on Friday night as part of a combo backing up Jaime Cortez, who wrote the song "Rain Down"; he's coming for a liturgical musician's workshop on Saturday and will be performing several of his compositions in concert Friday night.

Also: will be arranging to take some organ lessons! I don't think I mentioned this here but I auditioned a couple of weeks ago for an organ scholarship which our Diocese gives out every year; actually they pick several people each year to receive a year of organ lessons, with an option for a second year. This year there were six people auditiong and two of us won scholarships. So I can finally learn the RIGHT way to play the organ.:)

Life has been busy.

Wednesday I went to an all-day retreat up north in Door County. It was in a beautiful location; the Diocese owns land on an island; with a lake in the middle of the island; they had boats available so my friend & I rowed out on the lake; very cool. Also toured a lighthouse and did lots of walking around. We had minimal requirements re: sessions to attend, etc. so there was a lot of free time for contemplation, etc.

Thursday I was running around all day; tons of errands, etc.

Friday a.m. hubby, girlchild & I left for Chicago, where we visited the French consulate to apply for girlchild's student visa; luckily her paperwork was in order so they issued it to her right away. She is now "good to go" for France in a month.

Then we walked around downtown Chicago for a while and had lunch, etc.

Then we drove up to Racine, WI, where hubby's sister & her hubby live in a beautiful home very near Lake Michigan. We spent the night and left the next morning for home; except it took twice as long as usual because we were held up in a traffic jam on the interstate for TWO HOURS. Turned out that about a ten mile section of the interstate (I-43) was blocked off in boths directions and all traffic was being diverted; we never found out why. There was no construction so we can only assume there was a major accident. Very frustrating to be sitting there for so long and not know what was going on.

Yesterday was spent just getting caught up around here and vegging out quite a bit.

And now I have to get dressed and get to rehearsal.:)

Understandable.

Most of my day yesterday was spent just trying to make the whole thing work.

It ends up that if we have to go through with that end of the issue, we leave town Thursday morning at 7 AM ET sharp, we arrive in Jax Thursday evening, after 12 1/2 hours of drive time. Friday, Mrs. Chairman gets to meet with the people selling the property, and has until 3 PM to wrap things up for that session. We must leave Jax by 4 PM. We then drive to Durham, NC (choosing that location is driven by our wonderful tax code and the desire to write off that leg of the trip, it is not the most beneficial timewise, but makes economic sense on the 1040), where we will arrive between 11 PM and 12 AM. Then we are out of Durham at 7 AM, to drive to West Memphis, AR. At that point, we are back on the previously planned schedule - which is far easier than those three days.

Am so glad to catch your posts before leaving for the morning.

ohio! Whew, you wore me out there just reading about the move arrangements! Oh my back!!

But the apt sounds lovely!!!

Yes, nice words to hear from a grown up child. We heard something similar from Son # 1 last Christmas.

ML - Congratulations on the organ scholarship. Those lessons will surely enrich and enhance your already-wonderful playing, I'm sure.!!

And daughter who is about to set off?? How is she? All accomplished on the visa business?

And BTW, how is your Mom?

I got a call from one of my singing friends. She asked me to be on the audition committee for the group, and we have one scheduled for early Sept. First we'll audition our victim potential member, then we'll go out to eat! Yippee!!

Gots to go...

Will post some music titles later for y'lls edification and enjoyment.

God knows what you're going through, Neets. I have to tell you what happened last night. First I want you to know that this is not usual for me, really, but I think it will be encouraging to you.

I was online freeping and listening to music last night and you kept coming to mind. I like you, Neets, but it's very unusual to have you come to my mind unless I'm reading something you wrote on here. I couldn't figure out why you kept coming to mind, but finally I realized that I should just pray for you. I prayed for you, doing the best I could to pray for whatever your needs are. I really didn't know about trouble at work so that's not what I was praying about, but I did the best I could to pray for you. Hope this encourages you and you can count on me for more prayer if you need it.

Barrels of good luck, Chairman! I think you'll be needing it on top of all your excellent planning.

You're welcome, OM. On the rare occasions that I get a prayer burden like that, I usually never know what, if anything, is going on. So it's nice to know that you had a genuine need and that God was responding to YOU, not just to your request for prayer.

Ever heard of Anna Nicole? We don't have cable (we don't even have a TV) so I have no idea who she is, but in today's MRC Cyberalert there is something about her. Apparently she has her own (news?) show on E! which is doing quite well in the ratings. Here's a conversation between her and her lawyer:

Anna Nicole, seemingly first hearing about violence in Israel:

"Who's killing the Jews?"

Nicole's lawyer, Howard K. Stern: "People are going like with bombs on their bodies into Israel and they're blowing themselves up in like coffee shops and like ball rooms."

Anna: "Whoa! Why would they do that? Don't they think it's kind of painful? It's just so not right."

Lawyer, joking: "I think you should speak out in support of Israel." Assistant: "You're going to be neutral, huh?"

Anna, highlighting the obvious: "I'm just going to shut up. I know nothing about nothing. Oh yes, oh yes."
