Something that you posted just reminded me of another thing. When Al Gore was in 1 of the Presidential debates, he mentioned some statistic. I think it was that the then Administration had eliminated 350,000 (some number) Government jobs. I remember speculation that those 350K were military jobs. I also read that they might have been temporary Census workers. I do not at this time recall what it really represented. (Barkeep, another martini please.) In any case it was classic BS.
No matter what it represented, if it were 1 of the 2 that I mentioned, it was surely a crap remark. Why do I mention this? I mention it because I am one of the most frustrated persons that I know.
Want to know what really hurts? Most of the people that I know ( who happen to live in Massachusetts) reflect similar feelings that I hold. I do not know who these people are that are voting for Kennedy and the other a holes. It is terribly frustrating.

Radix ~~~ for those of us who have been here a while, it is no surprise that our military are working long, hard hours with too little and inadequate equipment. Over the years I have read many accounts similar to your son's. This is yet another legacy of x42. This administration is committed to helping the situation but, unfortunately, it takes a long time to build up the military. The full effects of a bill passed today won't be felt for years.
And the 'Rats have played politics with the military spending items ...... something for which, IMO, they should be shot at daybreak for treason. We are talking about precious lives ....... sons and daughters, moms and dads ..... as well as the very survival of our nation .... and all they care about is getting their ugly faces on tv.
It is important, as you suggest, that we contact our Congress critters ..... that we become downright pesky about it. But it's even more vital that we work hard to get Republican majorities in both the House and the Senate. Though there are certainly Republicans who will play politics over such matters (certain Senators from AZ shall remain unnamed), they are less likely to do so than their Rat cohorts.
Thank your son for us! We'll keep him and you in our prayers!

I told my son that it is likely that the good stuff was actually being used (or about to be used) in some theatre. Of course the training equipment would be the most likely to fail. That makes sense if you think about it.
On the other hand, how could it be good for morale, to see equipment not working? I find it to be disheartening.

It infuriates me! And I can certainly see how it must be disheartening to those who are actually working with the worn-out, broken-down equipment.
More and more we are finding out just how close x42 came to destroying our country and all that it stands for ..... though I must say, he couldn't have done it all by himself ..... he had the assistance of much of Congress and, of course, the media.
At least there are now some pay raises for the military ...... hopefully that will help morale while they wait for the equipment upgrades. In the meantime, I guess they have to get by on the proverbial wing and a prayer. May God bless them all!!!
One of the many great things about FR (and especially ATRW) is that you have a place to vent ..... to share your frustration with kindred spirits. We're glad you found us! ..... *hugs*

Re: Pay raises for the Military.
I was amazed at my son. I asked him how much money he made now that he was officially an Officer. I was amazed because, he DID NOT KNOW! I do not know where exactly that I screwed up. Clearly I erred somewhere along the line.

LOL!
How could you have missed something that basic in his raising? ..... *grins*
Gotta run for now .... hubby just called and said he's on the way home with hot Krispy Kremes ..... which is my signal to go fix him a pot of coffee.
Btw, since you're new here, you don't know our (mine and hubby's) little joke about doughnuts. You've heard about a baker's dozen ..... well, around here we have what is called a janitor's dozen ..... which is 10 or 11 doughnuts. Hubby usually can't resist eating at least one of them on the way home ...... :-)

Good evening everyone,
Just wanted to drop by and let everyone know all is well on the home front. Bratling finishes her medicine tomorrow and will be allowed to be more active after a clean bill of health on Monday. She is currently expending ALL of her energy complaining about not being able to do anything!

Hi, you. I have a new room-mate. He's even younger than the last one, but seems to be a nice guy. He doesn't smell as good as you do, though. Missing you.

I'm not sure of what I make either. They haven't gotten my pay straight since January when I actually swore back in. I think I am actually upside down on everything, and it's actually cost me more than I have made.

Complaining by the patient is usually a sign that healing is well under way ...... but is still difficult for a caretaker to deal with ..... :-)
Glad to hear that she's on the mend. I know it's been particularly difficult for you with John being gone and a patient who's not used to being sick.

Good Morning Lorena. Thank you for a special start to my day. Pat is home for the weekend to celebrate his and Dusty's birthday. So we are off to Busch Gardens for the day. It is 62 out and should be a beautiful day. Hope you and your family have a great weekend. I am owing you a letter and will get to it after Pat leaves on Mon.
