Ouroboros Falls

Ouroboros Falls

Tomorrow morn, while berthed in dawn's low stream,
The sea in sight, the end of Earthen woes,
The unsure shore its undulating seam,
A wayward koi chased past my upturned toes
A gliding sphere that brooked the current dream.
So springing soon, I waded as it goes…

Past sunken beds of ancient ocean lime,
Past sandbars where the silts of seasons lay,
We snaked beneath old boughs bent over time;
Transcending shades not ored in mortal clay.
Globe, carp and man now swum in solstice clime,
As summoned noon ascends… throughout today.

Like children of the reeds before the flight,
Past yesterday we'll scale through croaking calls.
Our sunset hour borrows dark or light,
The precipice that parallax enthralls.
The waters' broken roar portends our plight…
Does folly swoon? We follow up the falls.

In womb-like winter I saw nighttime fell,
As moonlight cycles down its silver rule…
Primeval starlight's cast into the dell,
All mirrored in the overflowing pool…
A maddened dragon circles in the well,
With tail in mouth… 'round wisdom's pearly jewel…

This is not the jpg I'm thinking of Toothie ... because there is a better one to give a visual ... but nothing fits the riverlettes of mind images to match your words ... even if I did find the precise one! Swimmingly delightful! &;-)

It's great ... but not THE one ... a bit too "busy" for my taste. I just got in and I'm beat ... I promise to look tomorrow.

Bon nuit des gens... pêcheur pour mots et toutes choses beau. &;-)

C'mon....let's not be 'koi'. This is clearly a reference to naughty behavior. ha ha ha

You got me there... I'd forgotten the significance of old boughs and snakes in the Norseland.

This poem, above all others which you have pinged me to (for which I am eternally grateful), stirs in me a desire to hear you read your words.

The poem is lovely.
The poet, like his choice words
Shines: pearls in moonglow.

Thank you so much for sharing these treasures.
