With the digital photos on CDs and harddrives now, my kids will never be able to find and destroy all the evidence.

West Nile Virus has now killed just as many people as the Anthrax attack. Is this a test run by Fidel Castro to see how more deadly virus's can be spread?

Thank you, sir, for the offer of assistance....I'm still debating whether to go down and pick it up today, or wait til tomorrow.

Maybe I'll go get it and read the documentation today....and pull my hair out tomorrow! :)

I'm an old-time DOS user and all these little pictures and icons, and mice and stuff drive me nuts.

Oh.....do you have any idea what 'shockwave' is? I have an icon for that on my desktop! Never bothered to check it out....

As far as I know, Shockwave is for your browser to play sounds, animations, etc in your browser (usually related to advertisements) and I wouldnt worry about it now.

Do you have a dial-up or cable internet connection?

I don't think I want either of those diseases.. I'll just hope for a case of the common cold later this year and consider my quota filled.

I went through many pains upgrading to XP. Hopefully I can give some advice learned from my mistakes. You should have no problems starting with a new system.

A computer type friend built his system with XP and loves it. There are several users in the house so it gets quite a workout sitting there in the kitchen area - kids surfing and checking mail, etc. If it can handle four different users I'm impressed.

I'm still very happy with 2000Pro and have NO plans to give Mr.Gates any more jack. ;-)

I have had NO problems with XP, with the exception of having to find a driver upgrade or two. I got a free 128mb RAM chip when I bought XP last October. The only problems I had were self inflicted... NTFS and FAT disk formats.

I have a dear friend who 'went thru the process of upgrading'; he said the same thing--but he wound up buying a new system.

I've not used any of Windows commands regarding backup---I've heard from too many sources it is/was unreliable. I've only used the Peachtree Acctg package backup system to back those records up.

I think I've used the Windows - File - menu box to send files to a disk in drive A for anything else I've wanted to have a 'backup' record of. Gads.....gotta read some this evening. I find Windows Help to be as useless as breasts on a wild boar!! Maybe this time it will be different! :) Maybe I just might like Windows---I really do try to be positive about the experience--but it is sooooooooooo hard!

Guess I ought to break down and go get the new computer.

XP has a good backup program, but that does not help getting files from your old computer. I'm sure there is an easy way that someone else knows about. I ended up wiping out everything on my existing hard drive, but thats not an issue on a brand new computer.

XP has a restore program that sets your computer back to the way it was on a previous date, that has been VERY helpful with some of my experimentation!

To me, the days of "upgrading" are way over. I never did a really successful one,(and I only started with 3.11) meaning no freezes, no blue screens, no pulling my hair out.

Also, I no longer install utilities or proggies to help my machine be "faster, or safer," or anything else. Just jam in all the memory the mainboard will hold, sit back and enjoy. ;-)

I'm trying to remain positive.....positive......positive..... :)

The local computer store (where I didn't buy this from) said they charge $40 an hour labor; and that it would take them about 1/2 hour to transfer all my stuff if I bought from them.

But what they had to offer didn't hold a candle to what this one has....and this one is less expensive.....its a Compaq.

I have a Compaq, I paid 599 for it in December of 2000... no problems, except with the CD burning software that came with it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

Cherie Blair suffers miscarriage

Cherie Blair was rushed to hospital last night after suffering a miscarriage, Downing Street has confirmed.

The Prime Minister's wife underwent an operation at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital, but was well enough to be discharged this morning.

Mrs Blair, 47, was kept in hospital overnight, with her husband at her bedside. She has now returned to Downing Street to continue her recovery.
