Lesbian Liberty Fans Kiss in Protest

NEW YORK (AP) -- Lesbian fans of the New York Liberty accused the WNBA team's management of ignoring their presence at Madison Square Garden and protested by kissing during Friday night's game.

The kissing, during breaks of a televised game against the Miami Sol, was organized by ``Lesbians for Liberty,'' a group which complained that the team catered to other groups with events to mark Father's Day and Black History Month.

In an e-mail encouraging the display, the lesbian group asked, ``Are you tired of the WNBA and the New York Liberty denying that lesbians are packing Madison Square Garden week after week for women's basketball games?''

Other protesters marked the team's ``Banner Night'' promotion by holding up ``Lesbians for Liberty'' signs.

The team issued a statement saying its games ``bring together all facets of the city, including the gay and lesbian community.''

Just make the WNBA an all lesbian affair, and the rest of us can continue to ignore it. Oh wait, I forgot, it already is and we already do.

"I've been watching the game," said Bob Race, 42, a Liberty fan from Lyndhurst, N.J. "I'm a season-ticket holder and I want to get my money's worth."

This poor misdirected soul simply needs to figure out how to subscribe to Playboy. He'd have a better chance at getting his money's worth.

So what exactly to these lesbians mean by the WNBA management "ignoring their presence?" I assume they purchased tickets to the game and gained admission just like everybody else. I've been going to Red Sox games at Fenway for years and I've never once been "formally recognized" by MLB management. Never realized that that was something that was supposed to happen. Or is it only supposed to happen for lesbians?

BTW, the photo of the two lesbo's earlier in the thread shows a man and a woman. At least it looks like a man.

According to the caption it's "Organizer Robyn Overstreet (left) and Jenni Paul kiss before last night's game."

Honestly

The day they make a national white-heterosexual-male-me day, everyone else can start complaining. The just need to figure out that they are not special, that are not blasting open strongholds of opression and hated. The complaining cause they don't get a "day". I don't have a "day" and I'm not organizing rallies for myself. I do what I want within the constraints of the law of this county, state, county, city and no one ever says a thing to me. Some people just need to sit down and get sucked back up into the wonderfull bliss that is anonimity

...lesbian fans locked lips in the stands to protest "being ignored" by the team they love.

Wow, feels like kindergarten all over again. "Boys are icky" and "bad attention is better than no attention."

Let's not forget the WNBA teams are paying rent to the NBA teams for use of the stadia. So the money goes from one column to another and you get to wash it legally and it comes out of the dryer as a loss intead of a profit.

Kind of like the Cubs taking only a few million of the revenues generated by their superstation while the rest goes to the Media conglomerate that owns them. It's a neat trick that all the baseball teams that have large media conglomerate ownership use to hide revenue.

Look ma were losing money Don't look at all the cash going to the Tribune Company, we really are broke and need revenue sharing.

If you find that kind of stuff interesting go to baseballprospectus.com and look back about 3 months and they have a 5 part analysis of the baseball bookeeping system.
