He did slit the throat. I should have read more of the article:

Parker was undergoing surgery Friday to repair his wounds and was expected to recover in the intensive-care unit. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

Pepper said Parker liked to hike and was in good physical condition.

RCMP Const. Jeff Flindall said police found Parker's knife next to the carcass of the dead cougar.

"It is a pocket knife and it is approximately three inches long," Flindall said from Port Alice.

Ya mean he's an honorable ratt, with the strength of 21 other ratts! Wow.....that is impressive for a ratt! Even if its one of ours!!

After all that 'panic attack' over the urgency to get these little rings ordered for Dad, I was informed that "due to the fires rampaging in Oregon, they may or may not be able to process orders in a timely manner!! Oh welll......

I know they are totally dangerous - I grew up in the Pac NW. My husband's niece lost a pygmy goat to a cougar. Smaller livestock and pets disappeared from country homes on a regular basis.

There were only half a dozen recorded cases of cougars arttacking humans in all of North America in the 400 years up to about 1970. Enough cougars were hunted to keep them afraid of man. Since the whinny assed liberals have stopped the hunting on the West Coast, the cats have lost all fear of man and regard him as an easy target

Thanks, Val....cougars are beautiful...even if deadly.

My Dad has told me about over in Montana when he was caretaking the doctor's ranch that he went visiting up Rock Creek. He stopped to check out one of the fishing holes, and gazed around the mountains....and spotted a mountain lion with a baby fawn. The lion was tossing it in the air and letting it fall to the ground; when it tried to regain its legs, the lion would 'pounce' on it again and repeat the tossing routine. Dad said it was so unreal--the doe was there....Dad said there were some weird sounds as though she was calling or talking to the baby and it as responding--until there was silence.

One year when I took some oil painting lessons, we had to do an animal project. I selected the mountain lion.....I still hve the 'project'....unfinished....I did manage to capture their eyes and the color, but missed the rest of the animal.

During the last two years at the ranch, Western Montana was having problems with mountain lions. One of the gals I knew up Beaver Tail Road had a mature ram (Suffolk weighing between 250 - 300 lbs, taken over a 5-strand barbed wire fence without 'snagging' on the fence!!!

It was so bad over there, the loggers were reporting they saw no young deer in areas where deer hve always been abundant! And another friend....a former reporter/editor... recited to me that she and her family had to make a detour around a huge male lion out in the middle of the dirt road in the mountains where she lived.

There is no way he could have stabbed it to death with that

Maybe in an ear or eye. Wouldn't want to be the one who had to try, though...

Speaking of which I'm officially laid off, finally. Last day is 8/16.

It's a relief not just waiting for the ax to fall.
