06/05/01	Tuesday	Ricci steals items from the Smart home while he is employed there as a handyman. Ricci is charged in July of 2002 of 1 count of theft related to the Smart incident.
05/30/02	Thursday	~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.
06/04/02	Tuesday	~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm ~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends
06/05/02	Wednesday	~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard, two blocks from the Smart residence ~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home ~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife. ~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today. ~ 7:21am - Rachel/Amber alert is issued and national media is involved. ~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it. ~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself) ~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)
06/06/02	Thursday	~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm ~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)
06/08/02	Saturday	~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fixed. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes this also. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.
06/14/02	Friday	~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being drinking while on parole and association with other ex-cons.
07/11/02	Thursday	Formal charges are filed against Ricci (2 counts of theft & 1 count of burglary) on the theft & burglary of the Smart neighbors home which occurred in April 2001, and 1 more count of theft for stealing from the Smart home on June 6th, 2001.

I added the 4/1/01 burglary to the timeline. I too wonder about the June 5th dates. Maybe June 6th is Angela's birthday.

That a polygamist would decide to steal Elizabeth for his own doesn't make sense either. Most of the polygamists live in secret, and take each other's daughters for wives. To steal a girl from a prominent SLC family would bring the spotlight onto polygamy in Utah, and the polygamists do not want that. There were three polygamist families who lived in my sister's neighborhood in West Jordan (south SLC.) The day after Tom Green was found guilty of rape (he married his current first wife at the age of 13), the three families were gone, and their homes were up for sell. No one in the neighborhood had a clue they were going to leave.

I've lived in Utah most of my life, and the only time I've ever seen a polygamist man out with his wives in public was at the airport, I saw Tom Green and his five wives returning from a TV show. Otherwise, I see the women at fabric stores a lot, in long dresses, with long hair, and several children in tow. NEVER with their husbands.

The dogs weren't barking at the Smart's house, they were barking up on Tomahawk Dr. when the girl screamed from the area up in the undeveloped hills above Tomahawk Dr. sometime after a car had raced by.

'Definitely Something': They say that when a coyote kills a rabbit, the yelp resembles a child's cry. What Steve Voss heard in the early hours of June 5 sounded much more human.
Voss, a gynecologist, was on call so he was sleeping in the back bedroom of his Federal Heights home. He was awakened by his wife who was in the bathroom. They heard a car racing down the street. It was 2:30.
"I drifted and then I heard what I thought was a yell or a scream. It sounded female," Voss says. "I've never heard anything like it before."
Dogs started barking and Voss went downstairs to check on theirs. He looked at the hills behind Tomahawk Drive and saw nothing unusual. He went back to bed.
At 6 a.m., a neighbor dropped by and said, "Go check your kids.'' The Smarts' 14-year-old daughter has been kidnapped from their home on Kristianna Circle, the street below Tomahawk.
An hour later, a police officer knocked on the door and Voss recounted what he had heard.
"I suppose it could have been a coyote. I was half asleep," he says. "But it was definitely something."

This is a map of the area. The Smarts' street, Kristianna Circle, is the cul de sac labeled Arlington Park (the park is at the corner at Virginia Street). The article says the doctor lives on Tomahawk Drive which is above the Smarts. He's awakened, hears a car race by, then nods off and is reawakened by the scream. When he heard the scream and the dogs started barking he went outside and looked at the hills behind Tomahawk Drive which implies that's where he thought the scream came from. I would guess the hills are north of Tomahawk which looks like an undeveloped area. This indicates Elizabeth may have been taken up into these hills north of Tomahawk on the map.

Wasn't Hinckley one of the first people Ed Smart spoke with after Elizabeth's abduction?

Lots of things in life don't make sense. This is one area I would not discount without serious investigation.

President Hinckley called the Smarts the Thursday after Elizabeth was abducted to express his sympathy and offer the resources of the LDS church in finding her (which are offered to many others.)

There were police dogs at the scene from the first moments. We've heard that the scent ended at the street. Which street, we don't know. Close to the house or not, we don't know.

I do remember they were searching the hills around the house, it has probably all been searched many times over by now. It's too bad this doctor didn't call 911 when he heard the scream and the dogs started barking.

You may very well be right. I'm not sure that I ever heard the specifics.

As you're probably aware, the post was in response to IamHD's article above the post as I stated in the first line, "I found these messages at a website regarding the topic you posted" made by members of that board. If you know any of those members, I'm sure they would discuss their knowledge and opinions with you since that's one of the many topics discussed at that site.
