06/05/01	Tuesday	Ricci steals items from the Smart home while he is employed there as a handyman. Ricci is charged in July of 2002 of 1 count of theft related to the Smart incident.
05/30/02	Thursday	~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.
06/04/02	Tuesday	~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm ~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends
06/05/02	Wednesday	~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard, two blocks from the Smart residence ~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home ~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife. ~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today. ~ 7:21am - Rachel/Amber alert is issued and national media is involved. ~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it. ~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself) ~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)
06/06/02	Thursday	~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm ~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)
06/08/02	Saturday	~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fixed. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes this also. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.
06/14/02	Friday	~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being drinking while on parole and association with other ex-cons.
07/11/02	Thursday	Formal charges are filed against Ricci (2 counts of theft & 1 count of burglary) on the theft & burglary of the Smart neighbors home which occurred in April 2001, and 1 more count of theft for stealing from the Smart home on June 6th, 2001.

It hasn't been. I was just trying to be colorful in my description. Although if this was a conspiracy involving Ricci and his pals then I suppose it is not a stretch to call them a "gang".

I'll go after the comments, except I don't want to use up this thread for yet another time I get to tell about polygamy in Utah. Suffice it to say, the girls who are being shuttled from Utah to BC are from polygamists families. The pligs are NOT stealing girls from monogamous Mormon households and selling them to dirty old men who have lots of teenage wives. The way of polygamy in Utah is a horrible one for the young girls, very little education, and much brain washing.

As far as Bella's unattributed comment about the funndies and the LDS church being in business owning together, I'm still waiting for documentation on that one. Again, I state: The LDS church does NOT condone or tolerate polygamy. Any member of the LDS church who is a polygamist is excommunicated immediately. We cannot even have sympathies with any polygamst group or the practice. David Leavitt did prosecute Tom Green for bigamy, failure to pay child support, and statutory rape, and won on all three counts in different trials. And for that, he caught a lot of grief "why don't you just leave them alone?", etc. A couple of the head leaders of the Kingston polygamist clan are now in prison for child rape and beating. But the heads of these clans have their womenfold so beaten down that even if they are being abused, it is hard to get them to come forward and press charges. The polygamists have a very closed, secretive society, and it is hard to break out.

This is a map of the area. The Smarts' street, Kristianna Circle, is the cul de sac labeled Arlington Park (the park is at the corner at Virginia Street). The article says the doctor lives on Tomahawk Drive which is above the Smarts. He's awakened, hears a car race by, then nods off and is reawakened by the scream. When he heard the scream and the dogs started barking he went outside and looked at the hills behind Tomahawk Drive which implies that's where he thought the scream came from. I would guess the hills are north of Tomahawk which looks like an undeveloped area. This indicates Elizabeth may have been taken up into these hills north of Tomahawk on the map.

I was not aware that girls were being "shuttled" until reading these articles. There are plenty of other articles on that web page that say exactly as you do - these women are brainwashed nothings.

Canada (Victoria) apparently condones these multiple "marriages."

Similarities between ES case & OJ case:

1) Barking dogs at crime scene.

2) Ricci's muddy white Jeep & OJ's sloppily parked white Broncho that led police to climb OJ's fence.

3) “I would not — nor could not — hurt a child in any way,” Richard Albert Ricci, 48. OJ - I would not, could not, and did not commit this crime.

The main difference is they haven't found a bloody glove.

It's a terrible sad situation. I did read one article about Kingstons clan and how wealthy they are. Well, the women and children live in poverty and off of welfare, while the men jet around and have homes in the richest areas of Utah, Nevada, Arizone, and Colorado. It is just disgusting that the men won't take care of their many children, the women usually end up in menial jobs. Sorry this is a hot button of mine...

Undoubtedly because Ed's company is not a member of the Park City Board of Realtors, which controls real estate sales in Summit and Wasatch Counties. Tom is using the same realtor that is handling his Winterton Farms project.

I don't think so. You have no idea how the idea of polygamy makes most of us shudder here in Utah. Selling or giving a daughter to a polygamist is beyond what we could do. And since that is the topic, why would Ed and Lois give Elizabeth to some dirty old man who wanted another young wife?

#157 No no, NO! The last thing I would ever think is that the Smarts put their daughter into such a relationship. But, it you know about these polygamists, surely they do. It is not inconceivable that one of those men became obsessed with Elizabeth & decided to have her.

Thank you for your considerate remarks. I was not sure if you had attacked posters or not, but it seemed to me as though you might have because you weighed in on behalf of someone who has made a practice of attacking people, or that's how it seemed. Thank you for clearing up my misinterpretation.

I have been careful to phrase my theories without condemning either the family or the police, although I do have opinions about how each might have done things differently to better effect. If the facts prove either the family or the police to be culpable in some material sense, I will be appropriately judgmental.
