Forget it, crop-circle boy. In addition to my medical experience, I've also taken a few courses in psychology. Please don't make me give you a pro bono assessment.

BWAAAHAAAAHAAAHAAAAA

Carl Sagan, the disinformation specialist for the gullible...

Yes, Doug and Dave might have made a few sloppy circles. Doug and Dave did not make the REAL ones that garner so much attention however. In fact, crop circles have been appearing in fields since the 1800's. Unless Doug and Dave travelled though time just to mess with farmers, I doubt they had anything to do with those..

The Hitler channel had a special last night on crop circles hosted by Joaquin Phoenix--didn't Russel Crowe kill him?

They showed the two hoaxers and a few circles but they could have shown more circles.

The two farmers at the end whose crop circles were still visible after two years and didn't know who did it? Hey, I've got a theory, how about they did it. For the publicity.

Oh yeah, they also mentioned sacred geometry yada yada.

The "believers" they interviewed also seemed to have a distinguishing characteristic, they were clearly insane.

I forgot to mention the best part. Forget sacred geometry, a real crop circles exhibits something called the "Viagra" effect. Needless to say, no description is necessary, it speaks for itself.

Didn't watch, so I don't know if your characterization of the "believers" is accurate. There ARE some wackjobs involved with this, just like there ARE some wackjobs involved with every other so-called "fringe" belief. From what the media says, conservatives are all a bunch of gun-toting right-wing extremists ala Timothy McViegh...

Nuf said.

12:00PM - 1:00PM Crop Circle Controversy

In the 1980s, a series of strange formations started showing up in the farms of southern England. "Crop circles"--uniformly flattened patterns in fields---attracted the attention of the Queen, Prince Charles, Margaret Thatcher, and even Led Zeppelin! Paranormalists speculated that they were evidence of UFO landings or occult activity. Then, in 1991, two men came forward to say it was all a hoax, that they had invented crop circles back in the `70s. One even demonstrated his technique for TV cameras.

But, as the CROP CIRCLE CONTROVERSY shows, this revelation did not end the speculation. For one, there are documented incidents of the circles showing up in fields all over the world--some simultaneously in different countries. For another, the circles have appeared throughout history: in the Middle Ages they were called "witches' circles" or "pixie circles" and a 1678 circle is pictured in a woodcut known as the "Mowing Devil."

Today, it is widely accepted that many formations are manmade. But others resist attempts to explain them by conventional means. Crop circles remain, in large part, a mystery.

We explore the mystery. TV G

" Crop circles remain, in large part, a mystery".

....But, we are sure these appeared for a reason during the Clinton years.

I caught the other one on TLC:

Network: The Learning Channel
Series: Crop Circles: In Search of a Sign
Episode: Crop Circles: In Search of a Sign
On Air: Dates & Times
For twenty years, crop circles appeared with increasing frequency in crops around the world. Hoaxers stepped forward, but how could they create so many complex circles? Follow scientists, astronomers, and archaeologists as they examine crop circles.

Crop Circles: In Search of a Sign

Inspite of what the blurb says this was leaned heavily towards the "mystic" explaination (well it spent time on mostof the odd ball explanations). They talked to a hoaxer (as well as Doug and Dave) who refuses to take credit (says the mystery is part of the art) and claims to have been buzzed by lights while making circles. All of the people were a little strange IMHO.

Fair enough. My theory is that bystanders ignored a couple of guys in a field. Your theory is that bystanders ignored a rather large alien spaceship, or whatever. I like my theory better.

Nope, no alien spaceship. I think that, an aline spaceship would have been seen. I am just correcting your statement that this field was in the middle of nowhere. I've been to the site it doesn't seem alien to me. All I am saying is whoever did this did this was smart, without being caught in a very busy area.

I just saw the TLC program Crop Circles: In Search of a Sign

There were a few things in the TV show that I took note of:

1. Even Doug and Dave admit that they got the idea of hoaxing crop circles from a still unxplained crop circle found in Australia.

2. There was more real-time video footage of the strange glowing "lights" that seem to accompany some crop circles.

3. As far as the mathematical relationship to the circles goes, one researcher claimed that a NEW Euclidean? theorem had been derived from the crop circles (I'm no expert on mathematics, so someone else would have to confirm this).

4. The researchers also claimed a relationship between the crop circles and music.

5. Researchers claimed that there was a relationship between Stonehenge and crop circles. I think what they were getting at in that case was that maybe whoever built Stonehenge and similar circular rock formations did so in commemoration of crop circles that they had seen.

Overall the show was interesting and thanks again to discostu for posting the airdate and channel of the program.

Ditto - all I could stomach anyway. Essentially, they interviewed nobody but "true believers".

1. Even Doug and Dave admit that they got the idea of hoaxing crop circles from a still unxplained crop circle found in Australia.

Yep, but all the old unexplained ones are simply round. No glyphs, no designs, no geometrical shapes, no human thought or design is apparent.

2. There was more real-time video footage of the strange glowing "lights" that seem to accompany some crop circles.

I only saw the one. Looked like an internal lens reflection or (possibly) a horizontally traveling ball lightning.

3. As far as the mathematical relationship to the circles goes, one researcher claimed that a NEW Euclidean? theorem had been derived from the crop circles (I'm no expert on mathematics, so someone else would have to confirm this).

I am. It's utter crap.

4. The researchers also claimed a relationship between the crop circles and music.

One "researcher". Of course, it's only interpretable by him. Just more crap.

5. Researchers claimed that there was a relationship between Stonehenge and crop circles. I think what they were getting at in that case was that maybe whoever built Stonehenge and similar circular rock formations did so in commemoration of crop circles that they had seen.

They've always said that. And pyramids. And fairy rings. And, and, and... If they link it to enough things, they'll eventually find one that's useful to their fun and games.

Some quotes as best as I recall them:

"It's too perfect to be faked!"

"I came as soon as I heard about them. I traveled 17 hours to be here and as soon as I stepped into it, it was just a mystical experience."

(paraphrased)"I only became a believer after I had been investigating them for years."

BWAAAAAAAHAHAHA! What a joke.
