Timing Suspicious On Mysterious Suburban Crop Circles
Could Eerie Mystery Have To Do With Movie Release?

Is it a case of mysterious crop circles -- or an elaborate movie hoax?

A soybean farmer in Naperville said the broken, concentric rings that appeared in a field off Diehl Road left him scratching his head.

"Have you ever heard of something so crazy?" Steve Berning said. "Unbelievable."

Berning said the circles appeared last weekend and damaged more than 10 percent of his 8-acre field.

The circles do resemble similar ones seen in England, but in this case, the timing of their appearance in the western suburb is a bit suspicious.

Two weeks from now, "Signs" hits the big screen. The movie starring Mel Gibson involves -- you guessed it -- mysterious crop circles.

William Leone, an investigator with the Mutual UFO Network, said soil analysis could determine whether the circles have human or extraterrestrial origins.

But Illinois Farm Bureau spokesman Dennis Vercler scoffed at that idea.

"Since I don't believe in UFOs -- at least not soybean-destroying UFOs -- I have to assume whoever did this did it intentionally as a malicious prank," Vercler said.

Meanwhile, Berning doesn't seem overly upset about the circles.

"There's some damage, which upsets me," Berning said. "But I'm more curious than anything. I"ll always be asking questions."

I could swear I saw that film on some documentary and it was a couple of humans from the 20th century.

As for whether these things are real or not, c'mon, they are all hoaxes though they are cool looking.

I love how these 'experts' have these theories how the crops are braided and the stalks are bent at 90 degrees? Is that a sacred angle?? Of course since they all are fakes, the ones they think are real are the measuring sticks they measure the ones the less gifted artists' make and claim are fake?

And don't try to tell me this isn't a belief system. If someone's been following and documenting this for 20 years under the assumption that it's real, do you really think they'll listen to any kind of reasoning that disproves their life's work and makes them out to be a bit tin foilish?

From post #569

Why not just make a crop formation in plain English telling us where and at what frequency to point our radio telescopes so we can receive further more detailed messages?

I think they should hijack the signal of the Superbowl during half time. Not only would they reach a huge audience all over the world, but by pre-empting the worst 20 minutes of TV they would also prove their benevolence.

Good question, and there is some question as to the authenticity of that particular formation, but who knows...

An interesting formation nonetheless.

I could swear I saw that film on some documentary and it was a couple of humans from the 20th century.

You mean this?

THE GREAT A&E AND DISCOVERY CHANNEL CROP CIRCLES HOAX.

As for whether these things are real or not, c'mon, they are all hoaxes though they are cool looking.

Too bad there isn't ONE that has been created by a hoaxster that matches the precision and symmetry of that found in REAL circles. If there was but ONE circle created by a hoax team that matches the geometric precision seen in REAL formations, then you might have a point. As of right now, you're simply bloviating.

If someone's been following and documenting this for 20 years under the assumption that it's real, do you really think they'll listen to any kind of reasoning that disproves their life's work and makes them out to be a bit tin foilish?

Are you saying that people who have researched the facts concerning this phenonema are less knowledgeable about this subject than you? And what makes you think that anyone here has made this their "life's work"?

Who says you have to have a blade in a mower? Who says a mower has to cut?

You really don't appear to see too well. Look REALLY long and hard at the image below, and then try to say that a group of people could create that formation in less than 45 minutes without being seen. And if you still think that a team of hoaxsters could create this formation in middle of the day without getting caught, when they haven't been able to make one as precise when given DAYS to do so, hey, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn for sale...

What I am telling you is that, by mowing in different patterns and directions, the remaining (uncut portion) of grass blades are bent to make designs. (I guess I presumed too much in thinking you'd understand that.)

I guess I would be presuming too much in thinking that you would have realized that by mowing the grass you ARE cutting it and breaking it.

JEEZUS CHRIST. Can you people stop spamming this thread with this crap!!! It's like the 20th time these same two freeking pictures have been put on here. And you're screwing my my damn My Comments page. Just link to one of your previous freaking posts, have a little respect for other people and JimRob's bandwidth, it doesn't grow on trees.

As I have said over and over but you just won't listen because you're so freeking addicted to you idiot time traveller theory: there's A FREAKING HILL YOU BLOODY PUTZ. Depending on the angle of the hill it's entirely possible it completely obscured everything. And again what's more likely to be able to hide from traffic: 6' tall people with boards, or flying saucers?

And I have seen no substantiation at all aon that 45 minute claim. 45 minutes based on what? Some fly boy that might or might not have been looking at the ground when he passed the spot before? People miss things you know. Do we have any photographic evidence that there was nothing in that spot 45 mintues earlier? More than 1 "witness"? Anything to make it more than just some stupid mantra you chant all freaking day?

Yeah, the show was something like that, I don't remember exactly since I could care less.

Too bad there isn't ONE that has been created by a hoaxster that matches the precision and symmetry of that found in REAL circles. Allow me to bloviate, I just had an enormous Togos' samitch... It seems to me that if they are ALL fakes, you're holding up the best fake as the standard for the lesser quality fakes.

Are you saying that people who have researched the facts concerning this phenonema are less knowledgeable about this subject than you? And what makes you think that anyone here has made this their "life's work"? "

I admit it, I am not an expert on crop circles, since to me they are all fakes What's to study except their artistic value?

For a disinterested person who obviously has no stake in them being real, why get so worked up over this eh? I mean who cares about fettucini numbers, Alfredo?

The grass blades are not broken, crushed or damaged by the mower deck. They are simply bent. Thus the ability to create patterns in the mown lawn.

The jist of what you are saying is that crop circles a made with lawnmowers, right? Gee, I suppose I could go make one out in my yard. I feel sorry for the person who had to mow THIS yard...

Incidently, it was reportedly RAINING the night of August 13, 2001 in Wiltshire, UK. That is the date and location that this crop circle was created! Hard to mow a lawn in the rain, especially without leaving footprints, of which there weren't any...

First off he didn't say they were made with a lawnmower, he said the bending process was SIMILAR. Secondly we've already seen these pictures all ver the thread too, you really should only post the same picture once, otherwise you're just being a dork. Third rain helps HIDE footprints, walking in the mud AFTER a rain makes your footprints stick out, but if it's still raining the rain stirs up the mud and obscures your footprints. As for doing stuff out in the rain it's all a question of how good your rain gear is. Many parts of the world people have learned to lead normal lives during the rain, living in the desert I don't understand that mentality, but it's true.

Well said. You notice that he's the one using the word "hoax" most often - a dead giveaway.

Now that you've posted the same goofy pic about 30 times, I begin to see it clearly, and at last I understand ... you've been severly damaged by way too many alien probes up the wazoo. Some of them may have actually unhinged your brain. Seek the help of a qualified proctologist at once. It may not be too late.

JEEZUS CHRIST.

Oh oh, you just took the Lord's name in vain.

Can you people stop spamming this thread with this crap!!!

So providing evidence is spamming now, I see.

It's like the 20th time these same two freeking pictures have been put on here.

Because your remarks are in total and utter disregard for the fact of the matter, which is that it would be IMPOSSIBLE for someone to hoax a formation like that in plain view of a busy highway in the middle of the daytime. All in 45 minutes nonetheless...

And you're screwing my my damn My Comments page.

Haven't touched your "My Comments" page. Scouts honor.

Just link to one of your previous freaking posts, have a little respect for other people and JimRob's bandwidth, it doesn't grow on trees.

First of all, in case you didn't know, posting an image doesn't affect JimRob's bandwidth. It is simply a short HTML tag and URL that is sent to a reader's browser, which THEN loads the image from the source URL. So it might take a couple of extra seconds for a page to load with the image, but it doesn't affect JimRob's bandwidth. In fact, it takes much LESS bandwidth than your voluminous drivel, which IS stored on JimRob's server and subsequently transmitted over the Internet whenever someone loads the page.

As I have said over and over but you just won't listen because you're so freeking addicted to you idiot time traveller theory: there's A FREAKING HILL YOU BLOODY PUTZ.

Whatever incline there is at that location is negligable. It is not Mount Everest. It is obvious that it is in line of sight of the vehicles from the image, which is why I POST IT SO DAMN OFTEN. Your ridiculous claims are better exposed for what they are with the image handy...

Depending on the angle of the hill it's entirely possible it completely obscured everything.

No it isn't.

And again what's more likely to be able to hide from traffic: 6' tall people with boards, or flying saucers?

Depends if you take cloaking devices into consideration.. :) And I have seen no substantiation at all aon that 45 minute claim. 45 minutes based on what? Some fly boy that might or might not have been looking at the ground when he passed the spot before?

It is widely reported as such, and is generally accepted as fact.

People miss things you know. Do we have any photographic evidence that there was nothing in that spot 45 mintues earlier? More than 1 "witness"? Anything to make it more than just some stupid mantra you chant all freaking day?

The fact that it has made international news and all, don't you think that if ANYONE had seen ANYTHING suspicious related to the event that created that formation, that person would have come forward and spilt the beans by now? Use a little common sense...

You notice that he's the one using the word "hoax" most often - a dead giveaway.

Perhaps I should use the words fraud or scam, or simply call it for what is is, an act of deception?

And instead of hoaxster, I could say con artist, fraudster, deceiver, or swindler?

Posting evidence isn't spamming. Posting the same pictures over and over and over and over and over is not only spamming, but it's indicitive of a small mind that can't manage to come up with anything original or interesting to say.

IT IS NOT IN PLAIN VIEW OF THE HIGHWAY THERE IS A HILL IF YOU'RE TOO DAMN BLIND TO SEE IT THEN YOU BETTER SEE A DOCTOR. And that's it I've had it. If you can't say anything original, if you're going to live in denial of the painfully obvious slope that's in the very center of your own favorite picture then it's clear you're a loser and an idiot and I am OUT OF HERE.

Ooh the national news said it. The national news also said Clinton was the most popular president in American history. Shows how trustworthy they are.

Goodbye shmuck.
