We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail! [President Bush]
Good Morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
The Senate has altered the Homeland Security Department bill to a manner not pleasing to the Administration. The Senate would basically make it very difficult to fire or discipline workers in the new Department; the Administration wants broad exemption from current civil service rules to hire, fire, and discipline workers in the manner it sees fit. Under the Senate bill, for example, if a border guard were found to be intoxicated on the job, there would have to be 30 days notice prior to termination, and the worker would still have to be paid during that time.
The House voted to create an independent commission to look into the affairs surrounding the September 11 attack.
Algore said he supports the overthrow of Iraqi President Saddam, but that it is not a good idea to invade now.
The Justice Department has created a program - operation TIPS [Terrorism Information and Prevention System]. The program gives American truckers, train conductors, ship captains, utility employees a formal way to report suspicious activity that may be terror related. The program will act as a clearing house, sending the information to appropriate law enforcement agencies for further consideration. The ACLU is not happy about the program, saying it will create a 1984 scenario whereby Americans are spying on other Americans.
Helen Thomas has said the Administration is abandoning women's rights by withdrawing support for the international women's rights treaty, she writes in the Houston Chronicle. Conservatives feel the problems in the treaty - its capability of encouraging abortions and legalizing prostitution - outweigh any possible benefits.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Shame!

Recently, I realized I was in a position where I had to make just such a decision ... and made brief note of it here ... by reminding us all that, for the most part ... we are reasoned and thoughtful people ... though I admit that I occasionally stray from those vaunted traits ... HA! ... and we should trust our instincts.
To my point ... my concerns were taken very seriously ... response was immediate ... and, here's one of the most important things to remember ...
Equal time was spent making sure I didn't have a calcified Aunt Trudy stuffed in a trunk in my attic ... or a spacecraft made up entirely of dried Canna fronds and duct tape stashed not far from the bomb shelter I am digging with a spoon ...
Once those concerns were resolved ... things moved very quickly ...
My experience proved to me ... these are professionals ... and in a time of war ... they do not take chances.
I realize that I live very close to DC ... and this might have made a difference ... still ... ALL ... please ... please make the call!
Let others sort it out ... fall on the side of safety ... truly ...
I put down lots of grocery money at that store EVERY week!!!
I'm a regular shopper there :)
But I see that our lysie ... whose heart is strong and pure ... but bruised, this day ... with the news of another lost kiddo ... needs a perk up ... a lasting thing ...
Years and years ago, my Uncle Al told my Dad that the best way to get a good crop of 'maters was to plant .. soup bones ... 'neath the plants when you install them. YES!
Oh! The debate which followed! ... For my Dad thought Uncle Al was off his noggin ... and Uncle Al thought my Dad was closed minded with the growing things ...
I only this Spring remembered this hot and heated debate ...
So, I tried it ... and, really ... I have never ..... NEVER ... had so many 'maters growin' in my cages ... it's to the point I have had to rig a system to support the new ones drippin' over the cages and climbin' over the beans ...
I have never been at a point where I think it a plan to pinch wee 'maters ... ones the size of ping pong balls ... just to give the poor plant a rest!
POLs ... I can hear Uncle Al and my Dad ... up there ... debatin' these results ...
"Told you!"
"Oh, just go back to your dandelion wine , you old coot ... it nearly killed us all."
Glorious life continues ... though heartache follows, sometimes ....
(not wise to pick on steel magnolias!!!!)

With so much ugliness going on, sometimes we need a reminder that God is in control and there is still much goodness in the world, though sometimes we really have to look for it.
You got that right sister :))
Soup bones, eh?
This is the earliest ever I have had 'maters. I planted later than ever, too. Can't figure it out... unless it is the unusally hot nights that is ripening them much faster.
Trying to give Jimmy Carter a run for his money were you??
:-)
I am off for now, just got some new software to keep grades on for my classses so I want to play! Later y'all!
She micro-managed this little fellow ... from ... violin lessons to swimming ... karate ... and so forth.
In the small amount of time left to play ... he would come over to my home and he and my son would either save or destroy the planetary copaceticness with their HeMan figures ... shows you how old I am ... HA!
Anyway ... his mother quickly became convinced that her boy was not returning home with the proper number of HeMan figues ... though there were many duplicates and such ... so she dabbed a bit of fingernail polish on the bottom of each foot ... of each one ... making it easier, you see ... when she came to collect her boy .. for he could not walk home the half block by himself ... to identify and retrieve his toys.
This annoyed me so much ... that I went to the store ... bought the same color polish and painted all the wee, inanimate toes ...
SMKs ... I will never forget the expression on her face ... when she next picked up her kiddo.
She was a fanatic about cleaning her house ... now that I am remembering ... and had no *magic* in her at all ... one St. Pat's Day ... I showed her how to dip those same HeMan feet in green food coloring ... and leave prints on the counter of her kitchen ... for the elves had visited overnight ...
Had a hard time gettin' them off ... heard about it for months ...
Not a very profound comment ... but from the heart nonethess which has no business being one word.
I'll have lots to tell my bubbles ...
Off to scoop ....
