Home Educators:
Are you assailed by snide remarks, such as: "Well, what about 'socialization'?", etc.?
Do you need some good ammunition/arguments to strengthen your cause? To provide a quick answer to your critics? Or to provide a well reasoned argument, based upon principle, as to why you homeschool?

Here's a remarkable little book, a very quick read (only 37 pages).

Robert Lewis Dabney was a man of extraordinary principle. Despite the fact that Dabney had never received a military education, the great Stonewall Jackson personally offered Dabney the position as his Chief of Staff. Dabney's prophetic insight of what would become of our country if governmenmt education becames the norm, is amazing. If you read any book this year, this is it.

I don't know how I got on your bump list, but keep me posted. As a gun-owning, SUV-driving, white, heterosexual male conservative in California, the liberals want a rope around my neck.

The kids are grown and living out of state, so I don't have to fight the homeschooling battle. Otherwise, I'm in the same sinking boat as the rest of you.

Stick me on y'all's list- I'm still homeschooled, so perhaps I could offer a first hand account from the perspective of a "student".

Your homepage reveals a well educated, literate young adult. Cheers to your homeschooling family for the great job they've done, and to you, Cleburne. Mississippi BUMP!

The more mainstream media outlets report these stories positively, the less the government and educational establishment will be able to ignore them. Yes, they are getting more angry and desperate, yes, they will and have started to try stupid stunts (like here in Cali), but they will just make parents angry..and an angry parent is a powerful force.

The Free Republic Network has chapters that are geographic and also chapters that are subject matter related. Homeschooling would almost certainly qualify as a subject matter chapter.

The network provides virtual meeting facilities, private fora, and many other advantages for chapters. The web stuff is, I think, already almost completely set up to be customized by the chapter.

Diotima is, I think, in charge of helping new chapters get set up. I would suggest contacting her about how to set up a new chapter of the FR Network.

Thanks for the link to the SacBee article. We don't subscribe to the liberal puke newspaper so wouldn't have seen it otherwise. :o)
