showin' 'em my O-Face... Dude, you watched that movie? Don't you know Jennifer Aniston is an evil liberal? And I'm pretty sure that Indian guy was a Muslim...

Silly boycotting is a waste of time and energy.None of us are "boycotting" thinking we will harm liberal Hollywierdos financially. There's no accountability in Hollywood for actors--they get paid up front, no matter how badly a movie bombs.
Those of us who boycott do so because we literally can't stand the sight and sound of some of these Hollywierd Clymers. (It's a visceral reaction, similar to what happens when The Bent One's Face suddenly appears on TV)

I don't know Mike Oldfield's politics--and I am afraid to find out. But you'll pry "Incantations" from my cold dead hands...even if he is a flaming socialist. Then <>don't read his biography!
ps - Voyager and Songs of Distant Earth are my current favorites from Mike (and add an interesting twist to his style).

Jennifer Aniston (called Bush a "f*ing idiot" in Rolling Stone)Hello, kettle? This is black. Meet pot.

You miss a lot of good movies. Watching a movie is not a vote. Fair enough, but still--a movie ticket costs money, and if a celebrity is offensive enough, I won't fund their agendas with my own hard-earned scratch. It's just a thought.
One of my favorite films is Glengary Glenross--and Alec Windbag is phenomenal in the five minute scene he's in--but the guy has poisoned me so much I can't separate him from his work. A failing on my part, possibly--but still.
Besides, as long as the studios put out fine cinematic masterpieces such as Dude! Where's My Car! and Attack of the Clowns, they're not deserving of my cash. Oh... for a return to the 70s...
Alec Baldwin, Susan "Janet Weisssss" Sarandon and Brad Monkey Boy Pit are particularly offensive human beings, but has anyone mentioned SPIKE LEE? I really, really can't stand him. His cliched politics aside, he's still a lousy director IMHO.
Repo's top ten of MUST AVOID actors:
John 'crypto facist' Cusack
Harrison "did I just eat some bad soup?" Ford
Madonna
Tom Loughlin
Tom Cruise
John Singleton, Higher Learning director
Heather Graham
Guinevere Turner

I guess I have always enjoyed this country's quirky little way of allowing people to think and believe as they choose, and I have never boycotted an actor or actress based on their political views.
Not to be a pain in the ass, but should not this thread more appropriately rest in the "general interest" category?

I have a very good reason not to go to the movies that have these people in it. They ruin the movie for me. Just the idea that alec baldwin portrayed Gen. Jimmy Dolittle makes me ill. So why should I go to something that I dislike and put money in their pocket?
Blockbusters usually take enormous amounts of money to make. There can be millions of theatre goers who flock to see the movie but if they don't clear their costs because a small amount of people decided they didn't want to see the movie because of that one actor, the actor's career is ruined.

Tom (Can't say the word God) Hanks.I hate his politics,,,but
I do what he does, I pretend he is someone else. You have to if you want to see some great movies, he is the finest actor around today, IMO.
Too bad these jerks can't just keep their damn mouths shut and act.

Harrison Ford? You crazy?! Indiana Jones 4 is going to be coming out in a few years.

Silliness indeed. You miss a lot of good movies. Watching a movie is not a vote. What a misstatement. Buying a ticket to the movie of someone like Julia Roberts is a vote for her.

Perhaps if it STARS her. But I'm not going to miss Ocean's 11 on her behalf.
To: RepoGirl
Guess we'll all have to go rent Bo Derek movies.
I have had my own private boycott going for some time - which should I enrich someone who thinks of me as an idiot. I can live without Julia Roberts and Friends. Most of these people are just following the Hollywood herd - they probably never really talked to or understood conservatives so they - not us - are the F&^$ing idiots.

a small amount of people decided they didn't want to see the movie because of that one actor, the actor's career is ruined. I think you are overstating your impact. The actors will remain popular or not based on whether their work is good. If they have talent, and the story is good, most people could care less what political organizations the people belong to. It will sell tickets. If it gets in your way of enjoying the movie, fine. But don't think you have enough impact to change anything.

Not going to a movie or buying a book by a liberal, has more to do with NOT puting money in their pocket, than it does with refusing to hear their liberal garbage. I'll watch their movies on TV & read most any of their books that I happen to find in the trash.

I'm glad you mentioned Cruise because I couldn't stand it yesterday when Rush was promoting "Vanilla Sky", even as to go so far as to give the Pay For View schedule!
I know some here can separate the actors and their roles from their politics but I can't and I won't.
It even bothers me to watch ESPN knowing it's owned by the Evil Empire of Disney, so I agree that it's impossible to boycott all things liberal, but actors and musicians put a face to all I despise on the left.
Those of us who boycott do so because we literally can't stand the sight and sound of some of these Hollywierd Clymers. (It's a visceral reaction, similar to what happens when The Bent One's Face suddenly appears on TV)
Well said.

I watch absolutely nothing if the name MARTIN SHEEN appears. If someone reports he went to see a movie, I won't go to the movie he saw. I have identical reaction to any movie in which the name MICHAEL DOUGLAS appears.
