Movies or shows I won't watch because of who is in them
Posted on 07/19/2002 7:11:34 AM PDT by robjna
As hollywood continues to beleive acting qualifies you as an expert on current affairs, I find myself not being able to patronize their movies. I once heard a quote that it used to be that fame brought celebrity, but now celebrity brings fame. here is my list of hollywood idiots who I cannot bring myself to watch in a movie or anymore. Lets add yours to the list:
Julia Roberts (top of my list, cannot stand the wench)
Richard Dreyfuss
Cammryn Mannhein
Rosie O Donut
Sharon Stone (not for political views, just a horrid actress)
Rob Reiner (anything he is involved in)
Tom Cruise (stero typical hollywood flake)
Nicole Kidman (see Above)
Bill Maher (enough said)
Help me expand my list
An obscure actress , upon recieving an award, stated that in days of yore, actors were considered rogues and vagabonds, and that we should still considered ourselves in that light. she was insightful beyond her years.

Rob Reiner Spinal Tap and The Princess Bride are two absolutely brilliant movies with no political overtones. I watch them all the time on DVD and will continue to do so, no matter what idiocies Reiner utters when speaking of politics.

Definitely add Carroll O'Connor, who played the father in "All in the Family". He was obviously a typical left-wing politically, but exaggerated the beliefs and mannerisms of someone opposed to that belief system, for the purpose of ridicule. (I never recognized 'Archie Bunker' as a conservative, however.)
Since I see few movies anyway, I would be glad to see a list of people to avoid, so that my hard-earned moneyt doesn't contribute to the personal wealth of some left-wingers.

I either watch or don't watch movies and shows because of the content and storylines, not because of the celebrity's political affiliation.
If I refrained from watching actors or reading books by authors that conflicted in any way with my political philosophy, there would be very little (if any) shows, movies or books that I would watch or read....

Make sure you ask your banker what his political beliefs may be, or the owner of your local hardware store and the gas station downtown. And the person who sells you your next car.
Your choice of course, but you named a few people who are pretty good at their work and I don't expect everyone in this country to think as I do politically. I'll watch Richard Dreyfuss films, thanks.

Do you still watch "Andy Griffith" reruns?
You might want to check Andy and Opie's political views!

What do you think they are doing with all that cash and publicity they receive from all the people who watch their shows and movies?

Movies and TV are kind of a waste of time - Kind of like watching life instead of living it. So as far as I'm concerned hollywood can go f itself.

My late father in law, God rest his soul, was very puzzled by "All In The Family". Not because of anything that Archie Bunker did or said, mind you. What he didn't understand was why people thought that the things Archie said were humorous, instead of being received as wisdom. And I certainly heard him say, in all seriousness, words that "All In The Family"'s script writers could have put right in Archie's mouth without breaking stride.
I'm sure most people thought that Archie was an exaggerated caricature, but I'm here to tell you that there really are Archie Bunkers out there.
