I guess chicken processors don't deserve the sympathy of Congress like Enron employees do

Most chicken pluckers are "undocumented" aliens who cant vote (leagally) and don't have unions or money to contribute.

I think the amazing story yesterday was not that the dow dropped 450 points, but it gained 400!

In Arkansas in the late 80s and early 90s most of the chicken processors were just the regular poor people of Arkansas - mostly white. Arkansas didn't have a shortage of poor folk to work there -- they didn't need to import them then.

Sounds like the death toll is rising in that horrible bus bombing/shooting on the West Bank today. Palestinians dressed as IDF soldiers opening fire on people who were expecting them to help after the blast.
We have to be very careful... the Islamic terrorists (they are all connected) will try similar tactics around the world. Stolen uniforms of any kind must be reported right away.

Every week, quietly, around the world and without grandstanding or endless photo-ops our war on terrorism roots out more "evil doers". Out at sea Two suspected al-Qaida terrorists caught and on land Spain Arrests Al Qaeda Suspect with WTC Footage

Such high-return investments are especially dangerous for people nearing retirement age, who can't afford to absorb big short-term losses. Should the rest of us really feel sorry for people who invested their wealth foolishly?

Yes high-return investments are dangerous ... problem is most folks didn't care .. they were just interesting in making a fast buck

What's that saying .. don't put all you eggs into one nest

Absolutely. If they're gonna trash President Bush for the drop then I want to hear them credit him for the gain.

What's that saying .. don't put all you eggs into one nest

On a financial call-in show I used to listen to, there would invariably be some poor fool who'd be singing the blues because he sunk every spare dollar into a single stock, then, can you guess? The stock tanked. Gee, should I hang onto it and hope it comes back? What am I gonna do?

Speaking of sayings don't forget, It's the economy Stupid. And who can forget, Character doesn't matter.

"Democrats have no credibility or standing to attack on this issue. The corporate corruptions being discussed today all began in the 1990s and were shaped by a culture of dishonesty and situational ethics that flowed directly from the White House" --National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Rep. Tom Davis of Virginia

The 1990's were all about the money and he who had the most toys winning.

My inlaws did the same thing .. they didn't put everything but enough to lose a lot

If they only listen to me years ago instead of thinking I was some right wing nut case they might not have lost so much money

I remember my dad inlaw telling us to buy stock in a few dot coms .. I said nope because it was a matter of time before they belly up .. and they did

I could never understand why people would sink millions of dollars into a company and not be upset when they weren't making a profit

My husband's cousin was getting one of those newsletters from a guy touting stocks in the high-tech sector. He would call me regularly (I'm the one in the family that handles the money and investing), and tell me I should be a particular stock because the newsletter dude says it's a surefire winner. (Global Crossing ring a bell here?) I'd look it up, check the fundamentals, and stuff like, oh, the P/E ratio, and then pass up the "opportunity". Gawd, a stock with a P/E ratio of >300? Please. How stupid do I look? He lost a ton of dough on those stocks.
