Well, thank you for that, although I don't really have anything to say about Steve's strikebreaking.

The widow of CIA hero-agent Johnny "Mike" Spann, who was killed during an al Qaeda prison uprising in Afghanistan last November that included American Taliban "Jihad" Johnny Walker Lindh, revealed Monday that she is facing financial trouble.
The Spanns' three children are now ages 1, 7 and 10 years old.
The widow of America's first combat casualty in the war on terror did not go into further detail on the air, but she told Hannity during a commercial break that the CIA pays her late husband's salary for only a year after his death.

I saw part of that show tonight -- she's a smart woman, and a conservative, and did not ask for government handouts -- said Mike was conservative, too.

I saw that. CIA ought to have some long term bennifits for people like this. It's not like a CIA Field Agent is gonna be able to buy conventional Life Insurance.

FOFLOL. Yes, I was just thinking to myself, it is the artistic quality of those two black and white photographs that so intrigued me. :)

All law enforcement agencies should provide decent life insurance coverage... but I know that they don't.

Very sad. Apparently, Mr. Spann hadn't purchased any life insurance to protect his family. However, I would think that there would be more compensation for an agent killed in the line of duty. The survivors of people killed in the WTC are receiving an average of $1.8 million dollars of taxpayer money, and some are complaining that it's not enough! And Mrs. Spann gets 1 year of her dead husband's salary...

Maybe Congress should stop giving themself a pay raise and start funding our service man & women properly

Is this a cell phone? *L*

What phone?
To: Mo1
In the Air Force (and in all services I presume), we could buy up to a $200,000 life insurance policy for $36 a month. They have been trying to raise it to one million.
To: Mo1
Yes, they should stop complaining. It's unseemly, and they look to be greedy. Why shouldn't the widow of Johnny Spann get $1.8 million? After all, her husband was actually serving his country at the time of his death, not just in the wrong place at the wrong time in a terrorist attack.

My husband was a diabetic -- he couldn't get life insurance except for the little policy from work -- $2,000. Not enough zeroes....
