We were really lucky with the weather, too... it was a bit too hot and dusty in Washington DC, but we spent most of the day inside museums anyway.
Where did you go?

I bet your berries are coming in like gangbusters....

A really sad report from Northern Michigan...the late May frosts totally wiped out the cherry crop...the worst of the century...a lot of farmers on the edge are in big trouble.

To Lake Michigan just above Leland Michigan (NorthWest on the maps).

Windsurf Heaven (cept the wind was a bit calmer than normal so we had to troll around and boat and swim....but hey...somebody had to do it...)

I posted here in the evenings from motels often on the trip... Drove southeast the first day and stayed in Lafayette, LA the first night. We looked around a little town called Breaux Bridge.
We crossed the Mississippi River at Baton Rouge the next day (first time I saw the MS River .. first time I saw anything east of Tyler TX) and had lunch at a po' boy restaurant recommended by Darlin' and Swerve -- yummy. There's a picture of Gabe's shrimp po' boy sandwich at Fotki.
Then we saw New Orleans - drove all around there for awhile, but it was a HOT day and the kids didn't want to get out and walk around and they were not impressed, so we drove on heading north.

The Louisiana pictures are mixed in with others in the "country" folder at Fotki -- after that I made new folders for different locations.

The Mississippi pictures are there, too -- I'll make a new folder and move them.

A lot of the pictures in the N Carolina folder were taken along the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway -- a gorgeous drive.

We spent a night in Waynesville N Carolina - a little town not far from Asheville (I really like Asheville and that whole area) and some of the woodsy and old barns pictures are from the Waynesville area.

my kids loved swimming in the little motel pools on the trip, but rarely want to swim at any of the 3 big pools at the YMCA.

Oh mine would rather sit around being bored .. I have to make them go to the pool to realize it's fun
