Oops, I had forgotten the bee sting. That could have been tragic. I am sure you realize now you should have gone to the ER right away.....Your guardian angel was very busy last year...lol...
To: lodwick
Wasn't A Time to Kill" Grisholm's first book? Ironic it did not become a best seller till after he became famous with The Client.
To: daisyscarlett
It was good to get stung. Now I know I am allergic and need to stay away from bees. I now have Epipens in case I get stung again.
I am so glad that one of my best friends is a doctor. What would I do without him!

I forgot to add the books I am reading. They aren't very thrilling.
WHY WOMEN KILL.... I can't remember the author
FACTS and TRIVIA... Isaac Asminov
PUBLIC SPEAKING FOR WOMEN... The Barbara Lee Foundation
To: daisyscarlett
Correct on the sequence of the novels. Luckily, Sam's Club had them in order, and deeply discounted whenever they were published - still do, although the price has risen steeply. Mrs.lodwick found A Time to Kill, a bit stout.
I thought it a perfect time to kill. Runaway Jury is probably my next favorite, and I've not read The Summons, his latest. Anything that is made into a movie with T.Cruise is instantly downgraded, for some reason.
Any hints for tomorrow's thread? Please, please, please. ;-)

Another good online source for books is half.com, booksamillion.com, and powells.com. Is booksamillion.com the same as the Books A Million stores? One recently opened up and I haven't had time to check it out yet. I have heard that they have a really wide selection, though.

WHY WOMEN KILLProbably because they've read one too many women-bashing threads at FR. (Just kidding, misogynists and lurking AFers - we only kill when people make fun of our blue hair).
To: retrokitten
Yes, I think the two are related. Books-A-Million has some great discounts.

I know most people say "A Time to Kill" was Grisham's best, but I offer the oddball opinion. It is the only one of his books I've read, and I thought it was so awful I've never bothered to try any of the others. Agree re Tom Cruise, though. I wouldn't cross the street to see one of his movies.

Try Grisham's 'Skipping Christmas.' Great book. I do like Grisham's characterizations of people, they are just a bit quirky. And I'm with you on Tom Cruise. They always announce Cruise as the lead, and I just cringe inside (The Firm, both Mission Impossible movies, etc.)

excellent subject. I am reading through Coulter's book now. Don't ask me why, but I am struggling through it -- I know you guys know what a Coulter fan I am, but I'm sorry, I'm struggling. Each chapter so far seems the same. Slap me. Put bamboo shoots under my fingernails, but that's how it hits me.
Am still reading the TR book, have started the Seabiscuit book, still in the Revelation book and am struggling to stay current on my equine journals. Throw in National Review and The Weekly Standard and I'm lucky if I know what day it is. Somewhere in there I actually make it to work, which reminds me, I was in Peoria today (eat your hearts out) and thought, "So, this is the town about which politicians say, 'If it plays in Peoria...'" or some such thing. Peoria's a nice town and all, but I doubt they take themselves as seriously as the politicians do.
Honestly, it seems impossible to concentrate on any one thing these days, which may explain why the first couple of chapters of Coulter's book seem the same - I'm probably reading the same ones over and over again.
As far as an excellent summer reading book, "Beach Music" by Pat Conroy - it's such a good book that I have, for years, refused to read the end because I didn't want it to end. Sue me.

Sounds like a darn good read to me. Best of luck in the publishing quest.

Hey Timeout's sister! We know you are good people.

"They aren't red necks, actually I think that they are both executive somethings. They have brand new 2002 cars, a Continental and an SUV. They always keep their curtains closed and have never planted one single flower on their property. It drives me batty."Sounds like we need to send Teacup's grandkids your way.
Hey T, glad to hear you are perky and fit enough to fight the copperheads. Be careful.
To: daisyscarlett
thank you..

you should try Amazon.com for used books.
I sell my books there.
Now that I have found Amazon's used books I look there first, while book shopping.

Honestly, it seems impossible to concentrate on any one thing these days...Whew! Tell me about it. I'm trying to get some down time before things start heating up again next month. Have I been successful?? NO!
If it weren't for my FReepin' habit...LOL! So many books, so little time...How 'bout a nightcap?
To: joyce11111
Oh, I use amazon.com for used books too. I'm a book junkie...:)

Nelson DeMille's "The Gold Coast" is a truly great read. "Plum Island," another of his, is also good - we science types like it because, of course, it takes place near Plum Island, a/w/a the northern point of Long Island, which makes it another great "beach" read.
