Nelson DeMille's "The Gold Coast" is a truly great read. "Plum Island," another of his, is also good - we science types like it because, of course, it takes place near Plum Island, a/w/a the northern point of Long Island, which makes it another great "beach" read.

Well shucks! So while you were in Peoria, did you stop at the local deli to test the political winds? That's where I do all my polling,, at the Hy-Vee deli. The dudes (and dudettes who sit at another table) there are always on the mark.
I don't do much reading in the summertime. Any spare time is spent rejuvenating my gardens, which seem to expand every year whether I actually have the time to do the additional work.
I will be in the People's Republic of Johnson County (Iowa City for the unaware) tomorrow and will stop at Barnes & Nobel for a copy of Slander. I don't know when I will find the time to read it,,, maybe Thanksgiving weekend.
