The Guild 7-7-2002 Give Pink a Chance
7-7-2002

PINK

Pink is strong, pink is soothing
Pink is a favorite of a designer's choosing.

Pink is just for girls
A color just for ribbons for their curls.

That's old school thinking
Seems everything today needs a good pinking!

So think pink and give pink a chance!

..........

......

............

....

Now after all that thinkin' Pink it's time to retire to your

Pink Suite

In your Pink Castle... pink dreams!

Post your favorite pink!

Thanks everyone for such a great thread yesterday! I hope President Bush's birthday was his best so far. I know we had fun! :-)

Loved the thread yesterday, and love the Pink Thread today....Before I start to think pink though, I want to share this photo....Why on earth would this lovely young lady want to be shielded from the cameras...she is adorable....

President George W. Bush (R) and daughter Jenna walk together toward the pier at Walker's Point in Kennebunkport, Maine, July 7, 2002. President Bush is celebrating his 56th birthday this weekend at his parents' house. (Larry Downing/Reuters)

This is the hybrid tea rose Barbara Bush, by Jackson and Perkins. I have four of them in bloom in my garden. Hopefully they will have a Laura Bush rose in the next year or so, and I will add it to my garden as well.

Well, she hates the press for what they have attempted to do to her father, so why should they get her picture to splash across the pages of every magazine?

In addition, her image gets used by scum such as DU for manipulation and jokes, so why would she want that crew to get easy access to her image?

I don't blame her a bit. Let her have her private life. If she wants to be the Greta Garbo of the Bush family, more power to her!

Jenna's garment bag photo was a feature on Fox News today...She actually generated more press by her "non-picture" and lots of wags were busy speculating why she had to be shielded...You can just imagine some of the explanations the DU and others could come up with...So, IMO, it was very wise of them to show a picture of Jenna today, alive and well, the same old Jenna.

Good afternoon, ladies! What is going on around here? I leave for less then 24 hrs and all hell breaks loose! We were being singled out on the thread HLL started as being a man bashing site. Isn't that a joke? When have we ever bashed men? Maybe a specific man like Chelsea's beau, Ian, but we are man friendly over here I always thought.

Daisy, I think Jenna is just fed up with the press. I agree and think she is so cute, but everytime there is a picture of her any place she ends up being critiqued from head to toe. Not to mention all the constant drunk jokes.

Y'all have to hear what happened to me yesterday. I ran out about 2:30 my time to just do a little shopping. I came back about 4:00 and pulled into my parking lot and saw a baby running through the parking lot in nothing but a diaper! He was about 2ish and obviously had been out for a while because he was all pink and very dirty. I pulled into a space and called 911 on my cell phone. Since it was on my cell phone the call went to another towns 911 center, so I told them who covers our area gave them my address and cell # and he said he would call that center. Guys, this little boy was so cute! He was blonde and had big blue eyes and just looked like a cherub! It broke my heart to know he could be gone so long and no one would be looking for him! I ran over to him because he was playing right next to the edge of the water. I steered him back over to the swings. He was pretty shy and wouldn't tell me his name.

Then, not just one police car showed up, three or four police cars showed up, two fire trucks, an 2 ambulances and the fire marshall all were there in about 5-10 minutes. They said no one had reported a missing child. To make a long story short, (I know, too late!) a family was staying with someone who lived in one of the units and this was thier baby. Neighbors had called the police on three seperate occasions to report that this person wasn't taking care of thier children (there is a little girl also), but supposedly they had no reason to charge this person with anything until now. I don't know what happened after they found the family, but about 7-10 police and fire fighters and EMT's were in his condo for a really long time. It's a shame that people have children they obviously don't want. This little boy was such a doll I couldn't believe anyone wouldn't care what happens to him. It really broke my heart.

I have been busy this morning boxing things up for Texana Red. I am sending some dishes, pots and pans, silverware, linens and clothes.

I can only imagine how horrible it would be to lose everything in a flood or fire.

I also included a Bed Bath and Beyond gift basket with a card from all of us at The Guild. I felt it was the least we could do. I will go look for more things to send. Texana Red has to start from scratch.

I am waiting to hear when she will be in her temporary home before I send things. The post office will be holding her mail, but I don't want to take advantage of the situation. If any of you would like to send household items, let me know and I will send you her address.

We all have so many blessings but one of our biggest blessings is the ability to take away the pain of others.

I sent her a note and a check for $50, it's about as much as I can afford right now. I cannot even imagine having to start completely from scratch or watching your house crumble.

Thanks for your kindness. For both the baby and Ms.Red - however, I've come to expect no less from any of The Guild type people. God bless. JL

Thank you for your thank you, but I was just doing what needed to be done. I couldn't have lived with myself not knowing that baby could have fallen in the pond or got hit by a car in the parking lot or on the street.

The building that is right next to us we call "The Hippy Loser Building" because I swear 60% of the people who live there think (or wish) it is 1968. Anyway, as I was pulling in and saw this little boy running by, one of the hippy losers was just standing there watching him run by!! Didn't try to stop him or look for his parents or anything. He just stood there watching. I sat in my car for maybe a minute to call 911 and the hippy loser watched the baby for that time then got in his car and drove away. I was shocked.
