I couldn't agree more with this piece. One has to live through this mess to comprehend the devastation that ensues thanks to our feminized court system and the legislators who continue to tear up the constitution when it comes to matters of child custody and child support.

So, basically, I may never get married or have children because men are scared that I will divorce them and take everything we've worked for as a couple?

Gee, that's something to look forward to. >: /

I'm very surprised that it took this long before a marriage strike happened.

I once heard a pretty cynical view of life from a very successful, divorced business owner. He said "If if flys, floats, or f****, rent it. While the original price of ownership may seem low, the maintenance will kill you."

you're correct ... and so it the article ... unfortunately, this really spells the end of a normal society ... all this legislation has painted the USA into a corner in which its traditional family cannot survive ... I worked on a software development team in 95-96 at one company (as an example) ... myself, 4 other programmers and one manager ... of the 6, 5 were/had been married ... of the 5, 3 were divorced and were paying alimony ... and had the kids issue to boot ... 4 years later, the manager's wife ups and leaves him after 19 years of marriage ... he was "lucky" ... didn't cost him a lot of cash but he did become a 14 percent dad which tore him up (and continues to) ... he's dealing with it ...

Amen!

Here is how divorce should work: all physical assets and liabilities accumulated during the marriage get split exactly down the middle, including kids. If the first child is a boy, he goes with Dad; if a girl, she goes with Mom. The second child, regardless of gender, goes with the opposite parent, and this continues right down to the last child. There would be no court-ordered visitation rights, so the parents would have to act like adults and cooperate with each other because the woman would not have the kids to use as a bargaining chip anymore. And there would be no child-support payments, because the kids are split up. That's how it should work, plain and simple. Make it predictable, cold, harsh, unemotional, and businesslike. (This all assumes, of course, that neither parent has been convicted in a court of law of any felony crimes. If they have, they forfeit their parental rights.)

I've seen far too many of my (male) friends get taken to the cleaners in a divorce. These guys are doctors, and believe me, the court will happily hand over everything they have and don't have to an ex-wife. I never married, had a few close calls, but at this stage of my life, in my forties, I've decided it isn't worth it.

My attorney (also a divorce lawyer) agrees. He only half-jokingly tells me if I ever get married to spend a lot of money on a prenuptial agreement...it justs makes a divorce a more lucrative challenge for a good divorce attorney.

This is a very sad aspect of the Feminist War on reality. The net result is to destroy the basis for an ongoing social order. There is no possibility for continuity in any social order, but through the medium of the family.

See The Feminist Absurdity, for an analysis of the irrationality of Feminism. See The Lies Of Socialism, for the more general Leftist War on reality.

It is obvious from a great many psychological signs, that we are designed to seek mates; that that pursuit is the most important pursuit in life. Where so many rationalize reasons to forgo the quest, we have a very sick society. This needs to be addressed; but of course it will not be, until we start electing hard nosed Conservatives to a lot more positions of authority.

Wait until the feminist agenda includes strengthening the notion of common-law marriages.

Some basic FAQs:

If my partner and I live together long enough, won't we have a common law marriage?

Contrary to popular belief, even if two people live together for a certain number of years, if they don't intend to be married and present themselves to others as a married couple, there is no common law marriage. More particularly, a common law marriage can occur only when:

1. a heterosexual couple lives together in a state that recognizes common law marriages
2. for a significant period of time (not defined in any state)
3. holding themselves out as a married couple -- typically this means using the same last name, referring to the other as "my husband" or "my wife" and filing a joint tax return, and
4. intending to be married.

Unless all four are true, there is no common law marriage. When a common law marriage exists, the couple must go through a formal divorce to end the relationship.

Which states recognize common law marriage? Common law marriage is recognized only in the following states:

Alabama
Colorado
District of Columbia
Georgia (if created before 1/1/97)
Idaho (if created before 1/1/96)
Iowa
Kansas
Montana
New Hampshire (for inheritance purposes only)
Ohio (if created before 10/10/91)
Oklahoma
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island
South Carolina
Texas
Utah

This isn't THE HALF of it. Even IF married couples stay together the other no win situation is your kids. They are being raised by their peer group you know. Oh, I know, you think you are GOOD parents. Your family is going to be different. Right. MTV has more influence over your kids than you do. Even if you don't let them watch it ... all their friends DO.

You know, he's got a good point.

Just like people used to re-arange their entire lives around the tax code and the (moment of silence in respect) "Credit card interest deduction" now people are arranging their lives around the laws governing the marriage contract.

Whoever said "Life immitates art" was an idiot.

Because in reality, life immitates law.

(that's what they have done, legislated marriage right out the door. The kept weighting it and beating on it till they killed it. And now they blame the victim, so typical..)

I (female) have to agree on this too, but with a couple of comments. The men I have known who have been financially ruined seem to have married fairly low functioning women, the ones who have little or no skills that would allow them to have a well paying career. Additionally, these women, maybe because they have not been in the "real world" of work, political office nastiness, finance, have little or no emotional coping skills and seem unable to effectively deal with life's daily stresses. So, when the divorce happens the women end up with the kids, living in the house, not having to work, while the guy lives in an apartment sucking down KFC...

Now, on the other hand, I have known women who make great money who have end up paying alimony to the husband.

It's 'cheaper to keep'er' and always will be. And, as men, we will always need to show that we are deserving of the superior title we bear. I've been married for, oh, 16, 17 years or so (who remembers) and have the battle scars to prove it. I'm proud to say I have weathered the storm. I know it's sad commentary but there's not much else to add to that pathetic statement. Besides, I still get to be 'on top' if not in bed then at least in my mind - or what's left of my mind...damn this is going from bad to worse. I'll quit while I'm behind. Which compared to most other men is well ahead, sadly.

Being a woman I suppose it is my duty to jump in and disagree, and try to set the whole idea right. But, I have to agree. Thank the NOW gang and other liberal hate men groups who have conned young, and not so young women, into believing their sick demented doctrines.

If I were a man I would be mad too, and I would very definately think twice before I put my whole future in the hands of some woman who could wreck my life if I squeeze the toothpaste from the middle. It was bound to backfire!

I came home four weeks ago and my wife of 22 years absconded with the finances, art, and other personal property. She left a note saying she was filing for divorce because she was bored. So there you go...once burnt... How - WHY would I go through this again?

Being one of those divorced women who got the kids, I think I agree with you guys. I don't blame a lot of young men these days. The women seem ditzy if you ask me. I have met some of them through my two sons and whoa -- I don't like what I see. Also they are pretty liberal as well, against guns, and believe we have to help the children. They all seem to have careers and believe they can take care of themselves.

When I got my divorce many years ago it was because of my husband's serious gambling problem. We parted friends and worked everything out --kids, house, money-- before we went to a lawyer. Nowadays that would never happen.

But there are many men that may not beat their wives or gamble or drink but they just plain ignore them. They never carry on a conversation --preferring to watch tv. That will drive more women away then all the rest. Gosh men could probably have an affair every week if they would just treat their wives 1/2 as good as they would a mistress.

I have a question for all of you married men -- what did your wife wear yesterday? How attentive are you?
