I guess the local Pakistan commanders were not fully grasping the implications of MAD (mutaul assured distruction).

I guess the local Pakistan commanders were not fully grasping the implications of MAD The Indians are electing a new President and the head of their nuclear missle program is expected to win. Doesn't sound like they understand either.

The prevailing winds and India's numerical superiority ensures a win. Pakistan cant afford to die over a proxy war in Kashmir.

Just thinking about it makes me ill.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The United States is capable of launching a rapid attack on Iraq by marshaling 50,000 troops at the Kuwaiti border in roughly a week, airlifting them in and bringing their tanks and heavy equipment on ships through the Strait of Hormuz. That would give Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein just a few days' notice, rather than the six months he had before the 1991 Gulf War. It also might eliminate America's need to rely on bases in neighboring countries like Saudi Arabia or Jordan, whose governments say they want the United States to leave Iraq alone.
We would never attack in the heat of summer, would we???

The prevailing winds and India's numerical superiority ensures a win. Pakistan cant afford to die over a proxy war in Kashmir. I agree, but that doesn't mean they won't be stupid enough to do it. It has been 57 years since Nagasaki. With the cold war over and fear of an attack starting an avalance of global destruction, nukes are being reconsidered as acceptable weapons
If the world needs a new lesson, I would a lot rather have it there than in an American City.

Many U.S. officials and lawmakers believe 200,000 or more soldiers could be needed to topple Saddam, a force that would require months to move to the region. The McCain Bosnia/Afghan doctrine. 90% of the Iraqi Army would lay down thier arms at the first sign of a CREDIBLE U.S. invasion.. either with 20,000 or 200,000 ground troops.

We would never attack in the heat of summer, would we??? Yep. Don't forget that we own the night.
If we attack at night and lager during the daylight hours, we will have another tremendous advantage over the Iraquis whose night fighting capabilities are minimal

People tend to overlook the fact that when we left Kuwait, tons of vehicles and supplies were left in place and people have been rotating in and out for the last ten years. We will not be at a standing start like 12 years ago.
I personally checked out and stored hundreds of AGM-65 missiles that are nearing the use or lose stage of thier shelf life.

Word in the UK is that she does not bother to attend class so I wonder who is doing her work there?Could it maybe be the secret service folks who must have taken all the tests for the globetrotting first daughter in her last year at Stanford?

Isn't August some kind of holy period to muslims ? August 2nd was a good day to invade a fellow muslim country for Iraq. A lot of thier holidays are rotating because they use a different calender. I believe the Haj occurs around this time of year??
