If YOU were married to Algore, wouldn't you be self-medicating to stay out of touch with reality? And yes, I've seen photos of Billy Jeff in a polo shirt. A bra would be in order.

Who cares, so long as it's moving, and you knew which way it was heading before it started. Volatility can be the trader's friend so long as it is not breaking news that is moving the market.
Stocks fall about three times faster than they rise, and the short sellers don't make much noise, but they are making out like BANDITS.
Imagine how happy you would feel if you had went short about 10,000 shares of WorldCom around April 20th when it was around $6.00 per share... and then closed that position and covered the short last week when it was at $1.50 per share. There was plenty of liquidity, so you wouldn't have been trapped in there.
Let's see, 10,000 shares times $4.50... What kind of mini-van were you looking for??
Caveat: Don't trade in stocks that are moving on bad news, UNLESS they were ALREADY in a stage 3 rollover and heading down. If you ARE in a stock like that, and it announces crap like Worldcom, you might be able to afford that beach house... but it would be a breathtaking ride down.

well that would definitely get the moms at school talking if I put that on my car Print it out on the magnetic rubber sheets they make for inkjets now. Stick it on both front doors for a few days.

The Vet just called with the blood results on little Nacho. The picture is not good. He has advanced kidney failure. His BUN and Creat levels are quite high. In addition, he is hypothyroid due to the kidney situation. And to complicate matters even more, his minerals are depleated and that is why his canines were so loose and had to go. The sores in his mouth she believes are due to the kidney problems and the eye problem is due to the high blood pressure he has, that is why the detached retina and the iris problem. She said the iris looked worse yesterday than a week ago. So this afternoon I take him back and will start him on fluid therapy 3 times a week which I will do here at home. And there are some vit for his mineral problem and something to help with the blood pressure. All we can do for him is to keep him comfortable.
The really stange thing is that cats with kidney disease get skinny, don't eat, throw up all the time, are disinterested inlife..not any of these symptoms did Nacho display. He is a bit chunky, eats well, likes hard food, and moist, when he hurls it is a fur ball...So he has not been easy to diagnos. All I have is hope to keep him comfortable...right now he is really quiet and it is taking him longer to come out of the anesthesia..they used gas..
Got to take care of the other kitties, especially Taco, who is wondering where his brother is just now..Can't have him stop eating out of loss....bbl

Shorting stocks is almost as dangerous as comodities trading. It doesn't take much good news for you to lose
more than 100%. Your liability is unlimited. In regular stock purchases you can't lose more than you pay.
And these days, if you make a really good move shorting a stock, you can expect to talk to a Grand Jury about the sources of your intuition.

Never heard of a stop-loss order?? Tight stops are your best friend, when your crystal ball fogs up.
That is why I told Mo to NEVER short a stock moving on bad news, UNLESS it is in a stage 3 freefall.

Yes, but with shorts you have a maximum profit of 100% and an unlimited possible loss. With long purchases you have an unlimited upside and a maximum possible loss of 100%
I am gonna sit in Bonds, which have been rising nicely as people bail out of the market, and wait till the bottom is past before moving back to stocks.
If you focus on making a lot of money over a 10 to 30 year timeframe you can do it safely. If you concentrate on making a quick killing, you are likely to get killed. It is like Russian Roulette. You have to win every time.
