Hey, Val. I'm back from the reservoir. It was an interesting time - we'll see how I did once I get the film developed. I had to keep changing lenses - what a pain. Then, when I was kneel and leaning in to shoot a small monkey flower shrub, I heard this car stop behind me - I turned around, and it was the local police! "Ma'am, I hope you're not allergic to poison oak". In fact, I'm not, and I wasn't touching it, but I was close. I think, however, the ticks might be more of an immediate problem. After I walked down the trail a bit, I saw 3 ticks crawling up my pants leg. I was wearing light-colored pants so they showed up. I'm going to go take a shower now and do a tick check. I'm itching....

Poison oak and ticks! Yikes! All I have to look out for are rattlesnakes and poison spiders and prickly pear..... Hey! How come you're allergic to everything but poison oak?

"Thank you. Being called perverse is routine for swerve and ratt, but it's a treat for me" LOL! You're welcome.

..."Or they are afraid to pull their noses from the taxpayer-funded trough. I am not sure if they have the balls to confront the 'perma-victim mindset' running rampant these days."...
Ratty.....how does one explain them having balls back in '95 when all those freshmen came in and were willing to take the heat to get the Contract with America done, among a lot of other things....and today's their 'wake-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-broken-out-in-a-cold-sweat-at-the-thought-that-they-might-be-called-'mean-spirited'?
They were voted in heavily in the fall '94 elections--there was something like 74 NEW freshmen....the majority of which, if I recall correctly, pledged to their constituents they wouldn't make the office a permanent job and said they would serve 3 terms; they actually believed in the GOP Party Platform; and they were willing to actually balance the budget, and get rid of the filth being promoted through that arm of Hollyweird or the queer crowd called the Natl Endowment for the Arts.

"and we will never be sure exactly how he did it either." It does beg for speculation.

That's the main reason I never got into serious 35 mm photography. I do not have the patience to fiddle around with loading and unloading the film, changing lenses and settings and so forth. I have enough trouble just managing to pull out the camera and set it. A lot of the time my hands are full and as often as not, there are shots I need to take quickly.

I heard about the firefighters while walking the treadmill this a.m.....that is tragic.
And good to hear about Dawn...I think they said, or it was printed in the banner across the bottom of the screen that there was some moisture in the air. That was a big deal with our fires up here....there was none....and they were talking about 'instant combustion'....a lot of really weird things happened in those fires up here.
BTW....if you're gonna be driving, don't forget about that bridge thingy being out in Oklahoma...not far from Arkansas....I can't remember the highway #.....

It's true. I am allergic to nearly everything else on the planet, with some interesting exceptions. I'm not allergic to pine or sagebrush, for instance.

What do you consider the better points of Linux as an OS? Do you have the 'fatal exceptions and attractions' that Windows does?

Yeah, I know about the bridge. I plan to take I-40 to the Muskogie turnpike, but I'm not sure if the turn off is before or after the bridge. When my ex was out here he said there is a 20 mile detour around the bridge, so either way it shouldn't make a drastic difference.

I don't know anything about Imacs.....but I wonder if your comment about ratts would apply to just plain Macs, too?
I think Nully is a Mac man, so there's always that option....teheehee.

I am not particularly allergic to poison oak either...NOW! Back when I was 11 and decided I wanted to get out of going to school one day, I deliberately went out and got into the poison oak, knowing that I was very allergic to it. I rubbed it all over myself. I got way more than I bargained for. I was in terrible shape. I DID get out of school though....for over 3 weeks! I had to get shots every other day for the first week and a half, but the doctor told me that the episode would likely give me permanent immumity. I have never had more than a couple of tiny splotches since then. I never did confess to doing it deliberately.
