I am awake now, so I may as well celebrate the summer solstice by going out to take pictures of this auspicious sunrise.
To: ValerieUSA
Be sure to wear sunblock lotion, unless celebrating Cancer is your goal.
Yawn.
Next, you'll be saying that there are more ultraviolet rays now, and that the risk is greater now, than it ever used to be, and that the sun is Bad, VERY BAD.
Junk science.
To: gratefulwharffratt
Nope, if there is an increase in skin cancer cases recently, it is because people of the living generations have been wearing less clothing in the sun than the previous generations dared to, exposing larger areas of skin to the same rays that have always shone -- and because people are living longer lives. If you don't die at age 4 of smallpox, or age 40 of black lung, you just might live into your 80s and develop skin cancer on your ear.
To: gratefulwharffratt
Who will I type at in the middle of the night when I'm 147 years old and you are dying at age 93 of skin cancer?
Oops, I had better go - or the sun will rise without me.

Dang it! I drove all over the countryside, and it was too foggy to get a sunrise picture.

Good Summer Solstice Morning

Great pics none the less - thank you for the beauty.
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning...to the
end.
He noted that first came her date of birth, And spoke the following date
with tears, But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years. (1934-1998)
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth...
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars...the house...the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard...
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left, That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real,
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
And more often wear a smile.
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy's being read
With your life's actions to rehash...
Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash?

Foggy, foggy, foggy

Hiya Loddy. Well, my wayward son has returned after being missing all night, another son just bought a car this morning, so now I think I'll go to sleep before the youngest son wakes up for the day.
To: ValerieUSA
Missing and no phone call won't do - it won't do at all.
Beyond Terror, a book review
This sounds like a worthy read.
Everyone enjoy the longest day of the year. ;-)

That's a helluva thing to wake up to first thing!
To: gratefulwharffratt
Oh that was priceless. I am so tired of these hosts that mollycoddle terrorist sympathizers. Alan is fed up with their s**t too. I love to watch him go off on these mealy mouthed morons.
To: ValerieUSA
"Making sense guarantees you a place in the misfit category." That's probably at least partially the reason they're getting rid of Alan. Well maybe it's the main reason. I think the ratings show that he's making WAY too much sense for the average liberal news network viewer. They can't digest it.
To: ValerieUSA
I just love the way the fog and mist can lay over the land early in the morning.

Did I just have my Friday funkle first thig this morning? Amazing what a good night's sleep can do for a person.

Oops. Didn't make that correction quite quickly enough.
To: sweetliberty
