You mean it is the government's right and duty to declare whether a religion is false, but individual American citizens and Christian preachers are evil bastards if they dare to do so? No, I mean the Government has the right to rule that say Microsoft calling itself The "Church of the Wholly Profit" does not make it a religion within the meaning of the first amendment.
The government can not rule that something is a false religion, or do anything to it if they did, but it can rule that something is not a religion at all, but simply the Gambino Family under another name, or an agent of a hostile power's intelegence services under another name.

Recategorizing a religion into a non-religion is, in effect, declaring it a false religion, even if it is done so in 40,500 words instead of 5.

I think you just rated them. *L* Next time, buy a bag of marshmallows.

A false religion is one worshiping the wrong god.
A non religion is one pretending to worship a god while actually having another purpose, or worshiping god as a secondary endeavor to making money, selling dope, world domination.
If the government decides your churches main purpose is running bingo games instead of worshiping God, they can declare it not a religion. It has nothing to do with theology, everything to do with purpose

"Just a snide comment on her calling other religions false with absolutely no proof" I believe the scriptures are the word of God. The word of God SAYS they are false religions. I do not believe that God is a liar OR insane as you suggested. Therefore I believe that they are false religions. The scriptures also say not to cast pearls before swine, therefore I don't care to continue this discussion because it is unproductive. I like you Swerve and you know a lot about many things other than religion. I suggest you stick to what you know because matters of the spirit cannot be contained within the boundaries of intellect .

Hi Valerie,
Interesting story about nekked Wimmin wandering around town...can't understand why she didn't wait 'til summer though.
Sorry I bailed out last night...the darn server went down and kept timing out.
Off to the beach with the pups...later.

Swerve, that sounds an awful lot like Castro and Hitler's philosophies. It is not really in keeping with the American idea of freedom.

I stay out of the discussions of religion, because they get too contentious and people get too angry, and nobody will have their opinions changed. I also see insults getting hurled, and I don't care for that. Debate is good, but insults are not. People's religous beliefs and deep-seated and usually very passionate. I'll passionately argue politics, but I stay out of the religious discussions. Does that make me a wimp? I don't know.

Therefore I believe that they are false religions. That is a very reasonable statement. I can understand and respect that you believe that.
Your believing they are false religions is a completely different thing from their being false religions.

This answer is solipsistic, but the difference is that this is us. American Freedom is for America. Subsidiary Freedom is for Second World nations that have learned to govern themselves. The countries who have shown themselves incapable of sustaining a democracy are too immature to be treated as other than children to be cared for and disciplined.
